Starex shifter won't engage to Park

I drove our Starex a/t van yesterday and it wouldn't start. I thought it was the battery since it was not used during the holidays. I moved the shifter to R,N,D and back to P and it wouldn't engage, but just slips back to R. It started when in N position.

I will have the ATF changed as soon as possible as I hope this will fix it. I just want to know if anybody has experienced this and what they did. Thanks a lot in advance.

wala pa bang nag wawarning light sa panel dashboard nyo??

pa-adjust mo yung shifter cable.
