Folks, the usual disclaimers apply. Kung may similar thread na, paki-direct na lang ako.

I was driving last night when I heard a noise somewhere within the cabin. After some adjustments, I realized that the sound was coming from the gearbox. I tried to jiggle the shift lever while idling, and true enough, there was this jingling sound inside, parang may barya sa loob. Could there be something loose inside that needs to be tightened?

I'm not encountering any difficulty in my shifts, although true to the vehicle's age and frequent use, I can sometimes shift from neutral without having to step on the clutch. Thanks in advance.

Not joking, have you tried removing the shifter cover (usually the rubber or leather cover around the shifting column)? I remember a friend of mine in college had that "clinking" problem around his gearbox console area and he brought it to a mechanic only to find out that he has quite a few coins and screws that slipped into those crevices.

can you hear the noise from inside the car lang or pati pag nakabukas yung hood and you're looking at the engine?

    *darksword,

Will check. According to my records, I had the gear oil changed at 60,000kms. My odo is now at almost 77,000kms.

Same thing, will have it checked first chance I get.

Posible nga, although I'm certain that the shifter cover hasn't been compromised. Pabuklat ko na rin, since I carry a considerable number of coins on the dash.

I hear the noise from inside the car. I tried driving with the windows down, and the sound is still coming from inside. Haven't tried opening the hood and listening to the engine, although the jangling sound disappears when I'm on idle. It's at its loudest when I shift to second gear.
