This is also the reason why USDM vehicles will not start unless the clutch is fully depressed (may interlock).
is this feature also enabled on local vehicles?

the other day i was messing around with my clutch pedal and i noticed it had The Switch (the interlock switch for starting) just like the Haynes manual said.. but.. di naman nag-wo-work yung interlock (i can crank the engine WITHOUT depressing the clutch). or will the interlock only work if the engine is in gear?

The interlock should work whether the vehicle is in gear or not.

In USDM vehicles, as long as you are not stepping on the clutch, the starter is not energized.
