Did I do the correct way? How do you drive your car?

----i drive my car almost the same way as urs... pero pag nasa momentum na yung car mo, bitawan mo na yung clutch...

#3) 3rdly, lets say your driving up to the parking runway of SM Megamall, it's a long curve drive di ba...How do you used the clutch and gas pedal and gear shift?

--- car in 1st gear, tapos steer na lang... pag meron kang kasulubong.. break ng konti, clutch.. then timpla ulet...

#4) eh kung pababa na, lets say, pababa ka na sa runway, what do you used to go down...clutch and brake lang ba?

--- pag pababa.. depende... either in 2nd or 1st ako... depende kung may makakasalubong ako... syempre nakabitaw ang clutch. that way.. ur engine controls the speed, and u still have control of the car, as opposed to clutching it.... para kang naka neutral den non.

#5) Kung pababa ka sa isang slippery road, what gear shift is safe? and how do you apply clutch and brake?

#6) Lastly, if you are running so fast, lets say, naka 120 ka sa speedometer...then stop light na, within 10 meters ahead...what do you do to properly stop your car? as in from 5th gear...oaano mo gagawin...at paano ka mag-preno?

--- most of the time... pag 10 meters na... binibilisan ko pa lalo para makaabot ako hehehe. kung nakikita mong yellow na... its safe that u slow down ur car... ako ginagawa ko.. dinadownshift ko (engine break) tapos may konting apak sa brakes.. tapos pag mabagal na... clutch... then brake.

Yup, brakes naman ang masusunog if this is done. Also, when going downhill, it is safer to do an "engine break" rather than going down while at neutral. This will give the driver more control over his vehicle. At engine break, the vehicle maintains a certain (limited) speed which will save the driver from stepping on the breaks more often.

If your driving your car, what do you do?
I usually give it enough revs so that I can take the incline in 1st gear with the clutch pedal fully released. Then I just cruise in that gear all the way up. Reducing my throttle to avoid overrevving the engine. If I'm feeling a bit adventurous, I sometimes shift into second the moment my engine is almost at redline.

You are taking the slope with your revs too low. That's can cause your engine to lug and even stop (mamamatayan ka ng makina). Climbing with the clutch pedal depressed halfway is a sure fire way to fry your clutch. This is one great example of clutch driving. Have you always done this? Maybe your clutch is already fried and worn down by this time.

I usually just stay in first. It will climb slowly but surely. The curve has nothing to do with it. Just maintain your revs and keep your foot off the clutch and your vehicle can take this ramp. Again, if I'm a bit enthusiastic about my driving, I can shift into second gear even halfway up (sobrang bilis ng shifting, release throttle and step on clutch to shift tapos bitaw din agad sa clutch and back to throttle).

I usually engine brake. I just keep it in first and keep my foot off all the pedals and it will creep down by itself. Sometimes you may need to put some throttle because the engine brake is very powerful will really slow you down to a crawl.

#5) Kung pababa ka sa isang slippery road, what gear shift is safe? and how do you apply clutch and brake?
That would depend on the road. But you should always try and stay in gear as much as possible. Suddenly shifting into a lower gear may cause you to lose traction. Shifting into too high a gear may cause you to go faster that you may need your brakes (which adds to your risk of skidding). Just follow the recommended gear for the speed you intend to drive on the road (it is in your owner's manual).

First off, I don't think I'd recommend driving at 120kph with the stoplight within 10 meters of you. The stoplight is placed high so that you can see it from beyond ten meters. That said, I would always let go of the throttle and step on the brake before finally stepping on the clutch. I usually step on the clutch when I feel that my engine is about to die.

Just think of the clutch as a device to prevent your engine from dying. You only use it to keep your engine running during launches, shifts and stops.

always remove your feet from the clutch pedal when the car is in motion para ma iwasan mo yung pag half clutch yan kase ang madaling maka ubos ng clutch lining (tumatakbo yung car and at the same time half engage yung clutch.

teka..ako kasi madalas tanggal ko talga clutch bago brake. since ive read this thread a few days ago, sinubukan ko kahapon mag engine brake un pababa from tagaytay haha ayaw ko un feeling kasi tumataas masyado un rpm, i mean around 3k -3500.. i guess siguro medyo mabilis kasi ako 4th gear to 3rd then pag pasok mo sa 2nd ayan aangat..then dahan dahan ako brake. is it perfectly ok?

ndi naman ata ako clutch driver except kung incline na traffic d ata maiiwasan yun.. feeling ko sinusunog ko tlaga sya minsan hehe

pissword, a good technique wud be learning the heel and toe downshift. its footplay pressing the gas and break at the same time.. slowing down ur car, keeping rpm high, left foot presses clutch, downshift, all of that simultaneous. u wud be driving like a race car driver :D

Masyado ka mabilis. Anyways, gasoline naman ang sasakyan mo, malayo pa ang 3,000 rpm sa redline. Sometimes when I engine brake, 3,000 rpm din ako. Pero keep in mind na ang redline ng makina ko is 4,500 rpm. Huwag din masyadong mababa ang gear. Nasa manual naman ang recommended gear for the specific speeds you want to run.

Saka kapag naka-engine brake ka, don't forget na alalayan ng wheel brakes. They are there to complement each other. Huwag ka lang aasa sa isa.

hindi naman masusunog yung brakes kung maikli lang naman yung decline, as in mall parking buildings and short hills. kukulo yung brake fluid at magfa-fade yung preno pag todo preno sa netural ka pababa ng baguio or tagaytay or something hehe

anu naman effect pag nasa 3rd or 4th gear ka tapos lilipat mo sa higher gear, tapos imbes na fully depressed yung clutch pedal eh half lang ang apak ko - pero swak parin! sunog ba clutch ko nito! ganito kasi ko mag drive eh, saka sobrang lambot ng clutch ko kaya di ko na ina-apakan ng todo pag lipat sa higher gear or lower gear!

there are two reasons why you pressed the clutch pedal 1. to change gear and 2. if your car is about to stall.

bale i wiped the engine top clean of any debris, then test drove it...me lumalabas nga na langis, pero not that much. btw, checked the oil n ang itim na...last oil change was May...car's an '89 1.3L AE92...

Your clutch lining will fade faster than any normal usage. Mangagamoy sunog palagi ang clutch mo. More fuel consumption, kasi hindi fully transferred ang engine power sa wheels. Worse, baka idamay pa ang sira sa flywheel, which will cost you more.

Every mechanic will advice you to restore it back to normal adjustment. Anyway they should do that and always comes with the service.

engine brake = It depends on how steep yung daan,
pag bumaba ako ng marcos highway,usually 2nd
gear pag masyadong matarik, pag third gear ka
mapapagod ka sa kaka brake kasi feel mo naka
neutral sa bilis ng baba. pag first gear naman,
parang hirap makina kasi sumusobra na siya sa
bilis ng baba.
Full stop sa incline = Pinaka safe pa rin yung naka hand brake ka
kaysa naka half clutch and brake lang, siguradong
aatras ka pagka release mo ng brake, eh ang hihilig pa naman yung ibang driver na tumutok sa likod, nakow disgrasya aabutin niyan.

anong gear pag matarik ang daan?== usually pag alam ko nang matarik yung daan, first gear na lang, siguradong makakaakyat ka, tama sabi ni OTEP, wag lang masyadong mabilis pag akyat para di umiyak makina. pwede ka ring bumwelo na naka 2nd or third gear kaya lang mabilis ka dapat mag shift sa low gear pag medyo di na kayang umakyat yung kotse otherwise stalled engine ka equals biglang atras pag di masyadong mabilis mag brake.


Usually pag lagi kang nag mamaneho dito sa baguio eh masasanay ka rin, parang automatic na yung paa mo sa mga ganyang sitwasyon.


LASTLY: ang suggestion ko pag nakatira ka sa Baguio gaya ko, palitan niyo na kotse niyo ng automatic he he, kakapagod na rin manual, masyado ng matrapik session road ngayon. lalo na sa mga chickas, di na nga ako masyadong nakakapag high gear sa trapik.

sir ungas... anu prob if nangangamoy un clutch ko in high speed?? un tipong... nasa 4th gear ako then 5th gear, then nakatanggal na un paa ko sa clutch around 80KPH then pag bumwelo pa ako up to around 120-140 mangangamoy un clutch ko kahit na d ko na sya inaapakan talga..

d rin to lagi nangangamoy..minsan ndi minsan oo. sa hiway driving to nangyayari
