August 29th, 2007 10:50 AM #1car: civic esi 93 (automatic transmission)
problem: travelling from high speed (around 90 kph) then braking gradually to low speed (around 30 kph) as the traffic slows down, the car has difficulty accelerating once the traffic speeds up. RPM increases but the car does not accelerate accordingly. the feeling is as follows: feels like slipping clutch disc. also feels like the A/T did not downshift.
before, this happens only after driving for hours but i experience it now after only a few minutes of driving.
anyway, i plan to change ATF first to see if it will improve the transmission.
what ATF brands available locally can you recommend? any suggested additives etc.

August 31st, 2007 08:20 AM #2don't spend muna on super expensive atf kung di ka sure na it will work. we use castrol dextron 3 in the shop and it is moderately priced naman so trying it out might help. kung ayaw parin after changing atf then try to look for a surplus tranny na.

August 31st, 2007 08:46 AM #3ok tnx mr. speedyfix.
will try to look for that brand here.

September 2nd, 2007 04:43 PM #4bro one factor dyan is the fluid your using. It only means that probably sunod na fluid mo ATF. kya ngayon in just minutes of driving eh ramdam mo na yung diff. before the fluid is not protecting the gears na kya ganyan change fluid agad to protect the gears and ma maintain mo pa tranny.
recommend ko use high quality ATF fluids that can transfer and disipate heat efficiently yan pinakaproblem ng AT, init (heat).

September 2nd, 2007 09:17 PM #6To give you an idea on prices: Petron ATF is about 170, Total ATF 175, Castrol about 230, per liter.
Mobil 1 and Motul full synth ATF over 600 per liter.

Ano yung usually ginagamit na ATF Fluid? Ilan liters usually pag lancer 97 model?
Tapos every ilan kilometers palit ng ATF?

I'd still recommend sticking with whatever ATF grade your manual calls for (e.g. DEX 2 or 3, Appolo Red, etc.).
Some A/T's are designed to use only one kind of fluid. E.g. V6 Montero A/T's go shitty when you don't use Diamond ATF. The latest Nissan Patrol with 5-speed A/T can only use Nissan ATF whilst earlier Patrols with the 4-speed A/T can use Dex 3.
Whether mineral or synth base is up to you.

September 3rd, 2007 08:07 AM #10if you're not sure that the atf will solve the problem i wouldn't suggest using expensive atf agad.
Except for the ones that were deleted, the posts are still available.
