    Galant Super saloon 1997 A/T

    Incident: on a stop and go trapik, nabigla ko ang apak sa accelarator, na paiyak ko ang gulong sa bigla at malakas ang biglang arangkada ng kotse.

    later on, after parking for a whole day at pauwi na, i shifted to drive, walang response... antay for 1 minute...nothing happens, shifted back to neutral and back to drive...nothing happens, when i shifted back to drive, 2nd and L... wala parin

    but.. when shifting to reverse, engage agad at walang problema.

    I need to shift to drive, and then press the accelarator...umaabot ng 2000rpm bago mag engage drive...kaya laging kumadyot ang kotse.

    i test drive it.. pag nasa drive na at umaandar no problem sa shifting, lahat ng shift at nag down shift... ang accelaration wala din problem.

    na feel ko lang lagi ngayon, everytime a made a full stop from a relatively high speed where i think na nasa high gear ako ... na feel ko pag full stop pag nag downshift na sya to 1st gear, me shift shock na, dati wala.

    walang nag blink sa gear ligths walang ibang ligths or check engine din na naka ilaw.

    the ATF was changed last year including the strainer/filter. the ATF doesnt smell burnt... kulay pula pa color.

    I have it checked sa rapide, they changed again the atf, pull down the oil pan, changed the filter, then made a diagnostic test sa ecu... walang nakitang error code.

    verdict nila; nasira daw first gear, me kumalas daw at kelangan palitan ang buong transmission... a very expensive quote ang sinabi

    need your help... advice... suggestion... me naka experience na ba ng ganito sainyo

    all i can say is that you'd better get a second opinion from a shop that's more reputable than rapide. there are so many horror stories w/ regards to the way they treat their clientele bro

    Ask around for surplus transmissions in Banawe. Also try browsing through Mitsu-specific forums and you might get lucky.

    Hmmm... first order of business, get a second opinion. We generally don't trust Rapide...

    nagkaproblem ako galant pag shift cya ng 2nd at minsan pati sa 3rd may kadyot sya na malakas (makakalog ka nga sa loob ng auto hehe) ng binuksan ko ung computer box ng A/T may busted na capacitor pinalitan ko same value ok na uli. may problem pa yan na hindi na nagshshift nka hi-gear kna lang prati palit box ang katapat..... nka 3 box nko wwaaaa
    visual inspection at test using vom sa sirang 2 box may busted na transistor naman ang problem

    update:

    after 2 days na hinde ko pina andar ang kotse

    now, hinde na siya umuusad, but the reverse still working.

    I think palit na nga tranny nito, nagtanong ako sa banawe 15k daw plus labour na 2.5k

    malamang palit kna nga bro pag hindi na tumakbo sign ng palit or overhaul yan eh try m ky cinco or s iba pa na importer ng surplus ng makamura ka, may frend nagplit 2yrs ago nsa 9T ang surplus

    ^^ my thoughts too. Parang biglaan masyado for ALL forward gears to just die out.

    yan talaga sakit ng mga 94-97 model galant a/t's. a friend of mine has a busted transmission din and it cost him 80k sa casa pag palit ng new transmission. Get a 2nd opinion, minsan kasi baka kulang lang sa atf ang tranny mo. Yung starex namin mabagal din response when put in D and nung na check ko yung fluid walang wala na pala. You should check your atf when your engine's running and nakapag byahe ka na at least 10 minutes to warm up the atf. Kung ok naman level malamang palitin na nga yan, its near impossible to repair a matic tranny, even if makakuha ka ng magaling na mekaniko it still wont run as good as before and sigurado mas mahal pa aabutin mo. Look for a surplus unit nalang, its cheaper

    try resetting the ecu, mitsu's a/t have a separate ecu for the A/T. baka makuha sa reset. tanggal muna battery after a few minutes kabit ulit. its the simplest way. and won't cost you even 1 centavo.

    How did you know sira yung torque converter? Linkages are outside the transmission housing. Open engine look at the sides maybe sa harap ng kaunti near the chassis rails the linkages should be there. If not maybe sa transmission tunnel area may connection to the transmission mismo. Maybe neutral safety switch rin lang yan.
