    Guys,

My friend have a 93 Corolla A/T 128KM and ang problem is ayaw nang umandar nung auto kahit anong gear. Last two weeks kasi pina drain yung ATF and it was working fine then. Nag start yung problem nung paminsan minsan ayaw pumasok sa reverse ngayon pati sa drive ayaw na. At ang isa pang problema is may nakitang leak after two weeks nung ipa drain yung atf. Do you think ang problem is nauubusan nang atf kaya ayaw pumasok ng tranny? and sa cavite area kasi siya may recommended ba kayong mechanic na maayos gumawa para ma pa check yung leak?

    Thanks in advance.

check for the atf level. baka overfilled sya. dapat nasa tamang level lang ang atf kundi malulunod ang a/t mo. or baka rin kulang na because of the leak.

Or maybe it was filled up with the wrong ATF type.

Sirs I just had it checked with a mechanic na sabi daw eh specialist sa A/T ang sabi may nasunog daw na valve and valve replacement daw would cost around 20k+ or ang last resort daw is to replace the tranny.. and it would cost daw around 40k+ brand new sobrang mahal kasi di naman kami mayaman. Can you suggest where I can have it fixed at allot cheaper price? Thanks,

Surplus tranny would cost about a third of the brand new.

    arvin,
even if all your solenoids were burnt, it would still move although it won't shift normally. and what is the cause of the burnt solenoid may i ask? change your "mechanic". he is nothing but an IGNORANT LIAR.

^ *Jick, maybe not if there's an odd chance that the particular solenoid responsible for 1st gear and reverse are the same. On the Honda 5AT, solenoid B needs to be ON to keep the gear in either 1st or reverse gear. Only solenoid C (and to some extent, solenoid D) differentiates between 1st and Reverse (OFF and ON, respectively).

    oj88,
this transmission needs to be properly identified. just like most, the info is incomplete. but most of aisin warner transmissions i know will move in default second gear if all the solenoids are shot or the controls to them are disconnected. the shifting to move forward or reverse still goes with the manual valve selection. unless otherwise aisin warner changed their transaxle concept, you might be right.

Best to let the shop doing the repairs to find the tranny for you. They can negotiate some degree of "warranty" for the surplus tranny. And you'll need to find a tranny that matches your current tranny including the electronics used to control it. So you can't fit a tranny from a AE111 into a AE101 because the electronics are different.
