My friend texted me the prices of the Xtrail and it went down by over 100K...

    Nissan XTrail:
    2.0 4x2: P1.059M
    2.0 4x4: P1.165M
    2.5 4x4: P1.270M

I wonder if it will fluctuate even more...

BMWs, i noticed have a noticeable decline in value from brand new until they level out at a certain range (this is what i noticed with the 3 and 5 series).

    Hehe.

    Lance_R,

Ako din medyo sinusubaybayan ko yung Accord, estimate ko yung top of the line model bababa hanggang 1.1M, at yung base model nasa 900T nalang.

    nice discussion goin on, pa-join!

the IRR of the nex excise tax system was published today. that means in 15 days, it will be in full effect. there are some questionable provisions, but it should be able to fly. hooray for all of us!

the accord sounds like a good choice if you're in the market already. but i'd like to hold on to my money until i see how the manufacturers react. they might bring in better cars! i hear the mazda6 is creating waves globally. with mazda making a comeback, they might bring it too!

    let's keep our fingers crossed!

i'm kinda hoping for the Protege to show up here too...sana din magkaroon ng RX-8 dito no? :D

Pero i hope all this excise tax thing also means that the orig. parts coming in will get cheaper too...

The base model Jaguar X-Type is at 2.1M

Sa tingin nyo gaano kalaki ang ibababa nito?

dapat malaki ang ibaba ng mga prices ng mga BMWs, MBs, Jaguars, etc. because right now they are being taxed for having a large engine and being CBUs. sa new excise tax, hindi na basis ang engine displacement sa tax.

    mk,

tataas ang prices ng mga SUVs that were previously exempted through the 10-seater tax exemption (includes: pajero, trooper, patrol, expedition, tahoe, CR-V, etc etc...)

on the other hand, BABABA ang prices ng mga 4wd SUVs na hindi naman 10-seaters dati (includes: RAV4, Grand vitara, forester, Land Cruiser 100, BMW X5, X-trail, etc etc...)

High end car buyers are the ones that would benefit the most with the new law. If the dealers would give the rollbacks in full, for example the E240 avantgarde, it should drop to just 2.7M something instead of 4.1M.

    MB E240 avantgarde SRP P4,100,000

Less 10% VAT and 50% Excise Tax (old)
    = 1,845,000 manufacturer's price

Add P112,000 and 40% of amount in excess of 2.1M, and lets be generous na, a 10% depreciation in the Euro.
    1,845,000
    184,500 Euro
    -------------------
    2,029,500 new mfr price
    112,000
371,800 40% of amount in excess of 2.1M
    ------------------
2,513,300 Price after new excise tax
    251,330 VAT
    ------------------
    2,764,630 New Price

I don't believe those previously exempted from the excise tax like the CR-V would increase by much, if at all.

    CRV= 990,000
    99,000 10% VAT
    -------------
    891,000 manufacturer's price

    Camry = 1,580,000
    158,000 10% VAT
    -------------------------
    1,422,000
    711,000 50% excise tax for 2.0 to 2.7li (old)
    -----------------
    711,000 manufacturers price

How can a bare CR-V have a mfr price of 891,000 when a camry loaded down to the sills with accessories be just 711,000? I think car manufacturers have been making a killing with their AUVs (especially isuzu) and 4 x 2's for quite sometime. I heard a honda spokesman said on tv that they're gonna absorb the excise tax and i think this only corraborates my suspicions. My prediction is that some AUV mfrs would increase by just a little, para hindi naman mabuko, and then prices go back to their original, pre-excise tax price. But even then, they'd still be making a lot of money. Dapat nga mas mababa pa in the case of the Isuzu and Toyota. I have always wondered how a car with all new engines and suspensions and built to world-class engineering, safety and quality standards like the Honda CRV could be priced similarly to the Crosswind XUV and Toyota Revo, which aside from their bodies, was built from leftover parts from old pickup trucks and runs on a 3 decade old engine (revo). I could not even imagine what would happen should these aforementioned AUV's be involved in a crash with a solid object like a concrete barrier.

Sorry that's 112,000 plus 40% in excess of 1.1M pala, not 2.1M. Doesn't make any change in the computation though.

excited na ako sa new car prices - been looking at the altis, vios and the lynx for the past weeks. even test drove the chevy optra kanina. i'm keeping my fingers crossed na sana malaki ang bawas sa current selling price ng mga sedans.

saw the toyota ad in inquirer yesterday. All altis and vios less 50,000. the 1.8 G less 95,000. All altis J model being phased out, ubos na nga yung automatic J kaya wala sa ad, kunti na lang m/t.

hehehe my computations were a bit optimistic, its only now that i realized my mistake. the e240 should cost 3.5M, the camry 2.4V's mfr price is around 950T. The Accord VTI-l around 1.1M.
