Actually according to LTO rules hindi talaga siya pwede. And try keeping away from MAPSA, those guys love flagging down cars with glass plates!

Para saan nga ba ang tinted plate cover?

Sa gamot, kaya gumagamit ng amber bottle para ma-protect sa sunlight ang mga ito. Ang tint ng windows, para hindi mainit sa loob ng car o room. Baka ito din ang reason kaya may tinted plate covers. Para di mag-fade ang plaka.

Pag may tint, hindi rin masyadong nakikita ang nasa loob. Hindi rin makikita kung may maling ginanagawa.

Agree, yung may frame, pang-iwas sugat nga. Don't know if it is just the Philippine plates or ganuon din sa ibang bansa... Ang sharp ng edges, nakakasugat talaga.

Ang problema lang siguro kapag napasukan ng dumi, tinatamad ng linisin. I see a lot of cars on the road na ang dumi ng protector kahit malinis ang kotse. Hindi na nababasa ang plate number (baka intentional din)...

i think not, Have you seen bent plates?plate covers are used as protectors.

I was once flagged by a MAPSA officer in Ayala, that because of my tinted plate covers. I gave him 100 bucks and he let me go away, thereafter I bought a couple of clear ones.

not just in makati, but i have seen LTO flying squads stop vehicles with these plates in QC, in Pasay and in Manila.

so hwag ka na rin maglagay nyan. hassle lang parahin.

get a clear one, or alisin mo nalang. hassle lang pag nahuli ka pa dahil lang jan. saka wala naman akong naiisip na reason kung bakit kailangan mag dark tint sa plate cover except kung itinatago mo yung plate number mo (usually for some illegal reason).

For me, walang masyadong protection ang mga tempered glass protector. Mabigat pa. Pag may sumingit na dumi between ng plate at glass, di basta basta malilinis ito. Pag tinted, for me, gumagawa ng paraan para di basta basta mabasa ang plaka.

My father-in-law got caught in Makati just 2-3 weeks ago. His car had tempered glass (the greenish ones). The glass actually made his car plates more readable. Anyway, after arguing with the apprehending officer, they just let him go.
