Pardon me for my ignorance, :D I'd just like to ask kung san nabibili yung mga tinted na glass (o baka plastic) na parang pinapatong sa plates para magmukhang malinis? Yung may shade na either black or green?

Thanks! Gusto ko lang kasi lagyan kasi parang mas nagiging elegante itsura nung car. Preferrably please refer a place near Vito Cruz Manila area or Pasig Ortigas. :D And usually how much they cost.

    Thank you bros!

there's a couple of shops that sells these at malugay st. thats parallel to buendia, so kinda near na rin sa vito cruz. they sell around 600pesos last time i asked. colors available at the shop i asked, are transparent, green and blue. those glass plates na black ang color are transparent ones na nilagyan ng tint, yan ang sabi nung shop owner sa akin.

I'm just guessing here, maybe it has something to do with the plan before of the MMDA to use cameras to apprehend traffic vlolators, para hindi makuha plate no. mo. Just a guess.

speaking of which... I just saw a Honda Civic with really really dark tints on his license plate. heck... I could barely read it when I was just a few meters ayaw from him.

a light green / gray tint would do... but ensure that visibility is not that compromised (you'll regret about that when an M16-totting police officer flags you down in one of their no-plate no-travel checkpoints).

yep, we should not compromise the visibility of the plate number... siguradong merong risk na masisita yan... lalo na ngayon na palaging naka hightened alert because of the political problem that we have... iwas na lang po tayo sa abala...

I red about it in a Car and Driver mag some 3-4 years ago. Those are some kind of "radar diffusers".

In the US and Canada, cops use a radar gun to "clock" your speed and issue you a ticket if you exceed the speed limit. Apparently, these radar guns take full advantage of the "flatness" of the license plates to bounce off their radar beams. With these "diffusers" in place, the gun's computer will have a longer time to "lock on" to the car, thus giving the driver, who is usually also using a "radar detector", enough time to slow down when the radar detector goes off.

Hence, a radar detector and these diffuser covers go hand in hand in keeping the driver from having to pay a hefty fine for going over the speed limit.
