Any method that obscures view of the license plate is illegal. That includes tinted plate covers (ako kasama dyan sa nag-pauso dati) and tilting plate holders.

Of course, what is illegal under the law and actually getting pull over for it on the street is two totally different things in Metro Manila. Just like retrofit HID headlights, ultrabright "fog" lights, tinted front windshields, wangwang on civilian cars, clear brake lights, non standard brake light colors, commemorative plates, to name a few other stuff that is considered "illegal".

    reasons:
-color match the plate to the car's color
    -iwas color coding
    -"style"

If one can't follow a rule as simple as that about plates, then he has no business driving around and endangering the lives and properties of others.

I could say the same thing about people who tint their windshields and installed HID light systems on their stock headlights/foglights (blinding all oncoming cars in the process at night).

So I strongly suggest DON'T come to such conclusions unless you want this thread to be locked as the previous one.

at marami pa... i think it is safer na may tint talaga ang kotse kesa sa wla, even it hinders view.

i believe number plate covers of any type, tinted or clear, should be banned. no ifs, no buts. hey! it's a good way of generatring govt funds... arresting and fining offenders. the same with fog lights and HID lights that are not properly adjusted.

wow its only now that it came to my knowledge na bawal pala ang may tint sa winshield? I'm also one of those who have a tinted winshield,.,.,I use 3M panther black even in my windows,.,.,.,pero i never felt distracted and i find more comfortable to drive with those at hindi naman nakakasagabal yun for a driver,in fact IMO mas nakakatulong pa nga eh dahil hindi ka nasisilaw sa mga bright lights even at night.,.,.,so bakit kelangan ipag bawal? is there a chance na pwede nila ako huliin one of these days just because of these things? just a curious question and i dont mean to offend anyone,.,.,I'm just stating these things from my own point of view,.,.,peACE

What for? The plate has its purpose of IDENTIFYING a car. So why the hell would you want to tilt or put tint over it?

It's a no brainer na bawal talaga ito. Commonsense lang.

You're better way off with a clear "For Registration" sign or no plates with supporting docs than tinted/tilted plates.

Well, the car can still be identified, those with tinted plates simply want to limit how far it can be identified from.
