Subic-Clark highway will have soft opening Tuesday

The 94-kilometer Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway (SCTEX) will have a 'soft opening' on Tuesday and toll fees will be waived in time for the Holy Week, Malacanang announced Friday.
"On the instructions of her excellency, the President, the Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway will have a trial opening on Tuesday for class 1 vehicles. Toll fees will be waived in time for the Holy Week break," Deputy presidential spokeswoman Lorelei Fajardo said in a text message.
The soft opening comes three months after it was suppose to open.
The SCTEX was scheduled for opening on January but the Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) later moved its opening for end of April.
SCTEX has 34 bridges, four of them "major" spans - measuring 300 meters or more - which are now undergoing final inspection.
It has eight interchanges -- the Tipo Junction, Dinalupihan Interchange, Clark Logistics Interchange, Spur/North Luzon Expressway Interchange, Clark North Interchange, Conception Interchange, and San Miguel Interchange - while three others are being eyed for construction.
The additional interchanges would be located in Pampanga - at the Clark South Interchange, the Porac Interchange in Dolores, and the Basa Interchange in Floridablanca.

Baka yung Clark to Subic lang ang i-open. It is still dangerous for motorists to pass through the Clark-Tarlac portion of the SCTEx. There are still at least 3 overpasses that are still under construction with scaffoldings blocking the highway. As of last Sunday, March 9, the bridge near Concepcion interchange is still waiting to be repaved. While some parts of the highway is also undergoing repaving. I doubt if all of these will be ready and passable by Tuesday.

well, it seems the Tarlac-Clark stretch will be open this holy week even with that incomplete portion.
The controversial highway will be closed after Monday (March 24) said Abaya to enable the contractor to "make corrections… and rectification works" to ensure quality and safety, and to complete an overpass in Concepcion, Tarlac which is being built to give an alternate route for the carabaos and tricycles of farmers in the area.
Funded by a concessional loan from the Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JIBC), the highway will be officially opened by the third or fourth week of April, said Abaya.
Double the original budget
On Jan. 7, 2008, Newsbreak reported that the project costs the government a whopping P27 billion, almost double its original budget of P15 billion. (see When Aid Comes With Strings Attached)
The report said that then head of the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) Romulo Neri, was bothered by the increase and had pushed for the rebidding of the project in 2004.
President Arroyo, chair of the NEDA board, had overruled him, the report added.

Sir, the fastest way to Subic would be entering the SCTlex from NLEX and exit at Subic? No need to go to Clark? We plan to go to Subic on wed. Thanks
IIRC they're with AVID. The reported numbers in the TG article are from CAMPI.
