    I have a special plate. 3 letters + 2 numbers

As I know, we have 3 LTO special plate other than the regular plate.

The 1st one is the "Special Plate". It will be the issued upon LTO Registration. It will be the plate of the car in its life span.
    Cost your pay * LTO:
    3 letters + 2 numbers = 25K
    3 letters + 3 numbers = 15K

The 2nd one is called "Vanity Plate". You get a regular LTO plate then you apply for "Vanity Plate". This plate composed on 6 alphanumeric letter. example is 888888, ULUVME, LUV143, 143LUV and other combination. The price vary depending on the alphanumeric letters. I think you need to renew this plate. You need to put this at the back of your car while the regular plate is visible at the front. You can also transfer this plate to another car with the proper notice to LTO.

The 3rd is the commemorative plate.

    hope this help.

^ ang pwede lang irequest ay yung last number for coding purposes. Ganyan kasi sa kin e un lang tinatanong. Other than that special plate na yan. Mas mura ata pag custom 3 number kaysa sa custom 2. Dati wala pang 2 e.

The reason for special plates is to enable more plates to be issued especially in metro manila at a certain cost.. which was stated on this thread.. 3 letters 3 numbers *P15K and 3 letters and 2 numbers *P25K.

but this also paved way for more corruption/lagay. It wasn't supposed to be that way...saan ang matuwid na daan? hmmmm.

I even talked to one LTO personnel before..inquiring lang on these plates while my car was being registered...sabi pa rin it will still cost around P5K more kasi daw..papa approve pa sa branch head..etc...

    sabi nga..only in the Philippines...

    Pwede ka rin magpa-request ng sandwich number. 101, 202, 303, 808 ... etc.

    Pero kapag custom talaga may bayad na -- (abc123) = 15k ; (abc12) = 25k

    Please check my math...

    • The three-letter + three-number combinations can potentially yield 17,576,000 unique plate numbers (from AAA-000 to ZZZ-999)
    • A 2009 study indicates that there are 33 motorized vehicles per 1,000 people (excluding motorcycles)
    • As of 2010, the Philippine population is 92M

So that would roughly come up to a little over 3 million vehicles in the whole of the Philippines. Even if I miss the mark by 100%, the number of motorized vehicles wouldn't come anywhere near the 17.5M plate number limit.

    Is this a correct assessment?

May bayad din ang sandwich number. Usually nasa 1K to 2K depende sa number. May bayad din ata yung 100, 200, 300, 800, etc.

Depends when your dealer register your car with LTO...usually mabilis naman. No renewal fee after the 1st 3 years...normal car registration na lang after...

    Hindi magagamit lahat ng combinations.

The first letter of each plate refers to the region the vehicle is registered. May regions na konti lang ang vehicles, di naman pwedeng ipagamit sa ibang regions yung series nila. Meron din series na reserved for "for hire" vehicles, yung UVWXYZ ang gitnang letter. And also yung government vehicles din that starts with the letter S.

Yan talaga ang fee for those special plates. Legal yan at may resibo yan from LTO.
