I'm on the recieving end of this law. My 2nd ride is parked on the street. My only saving grace is its on a private subdivision.

If implemented, sooner or later, homeowners will have to impose similar rules within their subdivision.

Hate to admit it, but we need this law.

    Eto suggestion lang po....

Instead of curtailing the right of the citizenry to own a motor vehicle, why dont the LGU's (and/or Honorable (?) lawmakers) make a bill requiring each LGU to put up commercial parking buildings na reasonable ang monthly rent? Yng parang ala makati parking building. Why reasonable? Para may dahilan magreklamo yng citizenry kung hindi at par yung serbisyo. Why not free? Who are you going to blame when your vehicle gets vandalized, worse stolen?

Madami naman properties sa mga LGU's na nafoforfeit dahil sa hindi pagbayad ng amilyar. They can start with that. Or yng mga ibang idle government land sa boundaries nila.

    Just my 3 cents

That provision should be included in the bill. For example, add a provision that all urban barangays should provide a long-term pay parking facility, with annual renewable lease on the parking slots.

Agree, daming idle/vacant lots sa mga residential barangays dito sa Metro Manila. If the landowner is delinquent in paying taxes, seize the land and convert into parking facilities. Kung unused lot na up-to-date naman sa taxes, lease the land from the landowner with a profit-sharing agreement between the LGU and the landowner, or give the landowner tax deduction in exchange for the use of his lot.

By the way, eto pala ang sagot ng mga "honorable" congressmen sa Proof of Parking Space bill:

Solons reject parking bill - Manila Standard Today

“This is an elitist legislation and has no place in a democratic country. A car is not a luxury, it is a necessity. Making a garage availability a prerequisite to car ownership is tantamount to depriving the marginal sector the opportunity of owning a vehicle,” Bello said.

    What?!?!!

... car not a luxury but a necessity...? well, majority of our people have no cars, and they're still alive...
but when did this become an issue? we are talking about private citizens commandeering public roads for private garages..

tekateka... siguro dahil malapit na ang halalan...

Food, shelter and clothing are necessities. Cars are NOT a necessity. It is a convenience.

Wth are these gunggong politicians saying that it is an elitist legislation? 1st world countries nga nagsu survive mga tao walang kotse. Ayusin kasi nila yung public transportation system para hindi na kailangan mag kotse.

part of the problem, is that the car owner has converted his garage into a sala.... so he parks his car out on the road, beside his "sala"..
kapitbahay namin.. ginawang sopdrinks business yung garahe niya.. yung kotse niya, naka-semi-permanent parking sa labas, sa daan.. kitid-kitid pa naman yung daan..

at least naman, government should make an effort to relieve road congestion by hauling illegally parked vehicles away to the coral farms..
