SEAG commemorative plates now out

COMMEMORATIVE plates bearing the logos and mascot of the 23rd Southeast Asian Games are now ready and available to the public as part of the Philippine SEA Games Organizing Committee's fund-raising campaign for the hosting of the biennial meet.
Philsoc president and chief operating officer Jose Cojuangco presented the merchandise before representatives of eight Metro Manila mayors along with members of the Sangguniang Kabataan during one of the series of dialogues with the Local Government Units (LGU) recently at the Sheraton Hotel.

A private marketing group through chess official Vic Balboa designed the SEAG plate in an effort to raise additional funding and heighten public awareness campaign for the Nov. 27-Dec. 5 event.

Personalized plates for President Macapagal-Arroyo, members of the Senate, House of Representative and other government officials are also made available of which Philsoc expects to collect at least P5 million.

"Proceeds of this fund-raising campaign will go solely to Philsoc. We're short of at least P200 million from our target budget, but things are expected to become easier now with this kind of campaign and support from private sponsors," said Cojuangco, also the president of the Philippine Olympic Committee (POC).

The regular plate costs P3,000, special is at P4,000 and sponsors P12,000.

During the dialogue, LGU representatives and youth sector reiterated their support to Philsoc and vowed to help the organizers in their campaign to draw public awareness through information dissemination .

Aside from putting up streamers and billboards within their covered areas, local officials will organize dialogues and meetings in the barangay level, community interaction and school visits.

"Our friends in the youth sector even promise us to put up SEA Games updates in their Friendsters and e-mail. Everybody is now working and using all the available technologies to drum up the Games," said Cojuangco.

Interested parties can avail of the commemorative plates at the Philsoc marketing and merchandizing committee office at the ground floor of the PICC building inside the CCP Complex in Pasay City with contact numbers 813-4340, 426-7768 and 892-1712.
