"Pinag-iisipan natin with the support of the Metro Manila Council, mga mayors natin, kung pwedeng i-modify pa 'yung number coding scheme," Lim says. "Siguro pwede naman kaunting sakripisyo pa para sa lahat. Baka pwede gawing two days every week ang hindi paggamit ng sasakyan."

    That was quick :-(

"Lim said he wants to shun “fancy solutions, complicated and fancy schemes.”
“Effective implementation and enforcement of the basic rules is the key, whether it’s the disposition of motor vehicles or street vendors or pedestrians. Where they are not supposed to be there, they should not be there. Basic implementation, basic courtesy, let’s develop a culture of discipline.”"

there's nothing fancy about banning certain cars from the road on certain days.
    heh heh.

but i agree, " enforce current rules first, before making more rules".

making the lrt and mrt more efficient, should convince some motorists to go mass transit again.
in my simplistic mind, upgrading these train systems should be easy and relatively fast. all it takes is money. why are we scrimping?

I don't like it either but in the short term, apart from car pooling, for now this is the only solution imho.

But then those who can afford it (and some who can't) will start buying even more cars. A medium term solution could be congestion charging.

Or we could have things the way they are and just make do with current traffic conditions.

Government is to blame for not keeping up with infrastructure requirements but the problem is already here and new roads won't appear overnight.

And I thought he was going to be different. Ganon lang rin pala. Lahat nalang puro paglala ng coding ang naiisip. Other countries don't even have this, and they have better traffic conditions than we do. To think that the automotive market here is already considered small compared elsewhere.

They could have their traffic enforcers really direct traffic instead of hiding under the shade somewhere waiting for coding or swerving violators. The nerve of them.

Yep. Blocking the yellow boxes in intersections is the most common violation that occurs daily. Preventing this will easily prevent build up in a lot of cases.

But nobody is at the intersections when you need them...

some seem to be at the other side of the intersection... or in the lilim therein.. ready to apprehend magic box violators, i suspect.
why don't they stay on the before-crossing side of the intersection? that way, they can stop the vehicles from blocking the magic box.

Di pa rin ba nila gets na bibili lang ng another car ang mga motorists? Kaya palpak din mga previous traffic schemes.

and that is what exactly the govt wants you to do! buy another car so they can gain every single tax they can get out of it, starting from the purchase tax that you paid for it until every drop of fuel tax you waste on the traffic, its taxes taxes taxes, have some common sense..

I've already self imposed at least 3 days coding a week:

    1. I'm tired of driving through traffic, especially that MRT 7 construction is on going;
    2. I take the P2P buses na from Novaliches to Makati;
    3. Maluwag pa naman mga aircon buses from EDSA Buendia to Novaliches.

The MMDA is studying two new number coding schemes that will ban cars twice a week | TopGear PH

First proposed number coding scheme (50% traffic volume reduction)
    • Monday and Thursday – Cars with plate numbers ending in 1, 3, 5, 7 and 9 not allowed on roads
    • Wednesday – No number coding scheme
    • Tuesday and Friday – Cars with plate numbers ending in 2, 4, 6, 8 and 0 not allowed on roads

Second proposed number coding scheme (40% traffic volume reduction)
    • Monday – Cars with plate numbers ending in 1, 2, 3 and 4 not allowed on roads
    • Tuesday – Cars with plate numbers ending in 5, 6, 7 and 8 not allowed on roads
    • Wednesday – Cars with plate numbers ending in 9, 0, 1 and 2 not allowed on roads
    • Thursday – Cars with plate numbers ending in 3, 4, 5 and 6 not allowed on roads
    • Friday – Cars with plate numbers ending in 7, 8, 9 and 0 not allowed on roads

If passed, these new number coding schemes will be in effect during morning and evening rush-hour periods. That’s 7am to 10am in the morning, and 5pm to 8pm in the evening.

It’s also important to note that Artes says these plans are still being discussed with relevant stakeholders.
    *****

will definitely result to higher prices of 2nd hand cars... and more cars on the road

Panay short term lang ang naiisip ng mga nasa pwesto.

Long term solution is develop a land outskirts of the metro and offer companies large incentives to transfer part of their business there.

imo long term solution ay baklasin ang mga flyover sa edsa it causes bottleneck then build a second level road. siguro pag natapos na yung skyway extension para may another option pag ma traffic during construction.

A bit OT, I wonder if traffic will still be bad pag double the price of gas? P90/liter?

2008 ata umabot ng P60? Lumuwag traffic [emoji14]
