Thanks for the info sir! i went ahead and got a students permit kasi di daw pwede diretso sa non pro, one month pa para convert. Atleat di na masyado nag wo worry pag nag da drive, mas okay na un driving with a student license na violation kesa sa driving without a license IMO.

if you have a CA license, you can have it converted. its easy. had mine done in 1 day. but then again, matagal na yun.

will you be here for long? if not, just carry with you your license and passport. its not a hassle naman.

Sir av80r5 is correct. Ito lang ang additional requirements as per LTO:

Additional Requirements For Filipino/Foreigner with Valid or Expired Foreign License1. Foreign License - Original and photocopy of license
    - Translation from Embassy/Consular Office (if license is not written in English) 2. Original valid Visa/Passport with photocopy (Foreigners) Note: A foreign driver's license is not acceptable for conversion into Philippine driver's license if:- The foreign license is not written in the English language; or
    - The country of origin of the driver's license has no embassy in the Philippines

I guess the student permit and TIN requirements are waived.

Quick question lang po
