TOOLS AGAINST MMDA OFFICERS

I just reached my limit last weekend, and decided to take action against the abusive MMDA enforcers. I basically called up the MMDA head office and inquired from the Personnel Officer, Antonio Pagulayan, to clarify their policies. Here is what I got.

If any of these abuses seem familiar to you, Mr. Pagulayan has asked that you call either the MMDA hotline (136) or call the METRO BASE at 0920 9389861 or 0920 9389875 and ask for an Inspectorate. They will send inspectors to the place where these MMDA officers are extorting, even while you are arguing out of your apprehension.

1. MMDA officers are not allowed to group together in order to apprehend. They are not even allowed to stand together in groups of 2 or more. The only time they are allowed to work together is for special operations (probably when they apprehend groups of buses for smoke belching).

2. Swerving IS NOT a traffic violation. Moving one lane to the left or right is not swerving, no matter where on the road you do it. And it is even less of a violation when you do it with a signal. Swerving is defined as shifting 2 or more lanes very quickly. So you can argue your way out of this, and call the Metro Base for help.

3. Sadly, using the yellow lane is a traffic violation and will get you a ticket. However, buses are really not allowed to go out of the yellow lane, so if you see selective apprehension of private cars only, you may complain.

4. MMDA has confirmed that your license MAY NOT BE CONFISCATED
at a traffic apprehension. The only time they can do so is if you are part of an accident, or it is your third violation and you have not settled your fines yet. They are only allowed to give you a ticket, which you can contest. He recommends actually receiving the ticket in some instances, so that you can report the officer who did it.

5. Also, you are free to ask any of these officers for their "mission order", which is written by their supervisor. If they apprehend you for a violation that is not in their mission order for the day, you can report them and they will receive disciplinary action.

So go out and fight for your rights if and when the occasion arises!

I don't know if this is the right place to ask this, but I'll try anyway. Is there a way kung paano ko malalaman kung magkano na babayaran ko sa MMDA? I was pulled over LAST YEAR BEFORE CHRISTMAS (tagal na no?) for swerving w/c I found out here that it is not swerving and one for beating the red light. Actually dalawa kami ako lang ang hinuli. Anyway, di ko na makita yung tickets, and I heard na hindi ko daw marerenew lisence ko pag may unpaid tickets ako. (Is that true?) Hope someone can help me on this. Thanks!!!! :D

What if nasita ang isang sasakyan after crossing roxas blvd. along EDSA, going towards MOA? Wala naman kasing u-turn warning sign before the u-turn slot. So ang ginagawa ng mga driver is to change lane kung hindi naman sila mag uu-turn kasi papunta sila sa MOA. Ang u-turn sign is located mismo sa u-turn slot at may nakaabang na Pasay traffic aid in motorcycle pa doon. Ala Cowboy!

Nang yari na din sa akin yan, same spot pag tawid ng Roxas going to MOA nakabuntot ako sa isang bus not knowing iyong tinutumbok ko pala eh may Uturn slot ahead. Kaya ng makita ko concrete block nagchange lane ako to the left pero naka abang na mga MMDA dun. Abrupt change of lane daw ginawa ko wala naman ganon na violation swerving lang, wala din ako nagawa kundi magbayad on the spot.

Natawa ako dito ah!..... Nang yari sakin din the "On the Spot payment" isang beses lang. dina naulit, kasi may PNP steaker nako. hehehehe!

I was stop and apprehended by a Trafic Inforcer sa Makati "yellow boys" kasi daw eh CODING ako, to think na wala paakung plate kasi bago payung sasakyan ko.

he insisted na yung number daw nang sticker sasakyan ko ay isa din daw yun, he let me saw the city ordinance at the back of his ID guro yun.

Para iwas abala, eh I told him, cge bigyan nalang kita pang meryenda mo, 150 petot kasi ang fine eh 300 petot pag na ticketan ako.

So at first di sya pumayag, eh sabi ko cge give me the ticket at mag contest ako dyan, tapos I file a case sau. He insisted na kunin yung license ko, sabi ko eh, kung di kaba mang-mang ticket lang at hindi license know your job sabi ko.

eh, yun sabi nya cge po sir, lagay nyo nalang sa papel yung pang meryenda. Binigay ko 100 petot nalang, kasi na asar ako, 150 sana, eh ayaw di 100 petot nalang. hahahah!

Get up! Stand Up! Fight for your Rights!

Kwento ko lang yung nangyari skin before x'mas '08:

We're on our way with my 2 kids heading Mall of Asia..
Hinuli ako sa Edsa before mag Macapagal papuntang MOA..

I am an experience driver and start driving way long before year '92
and i'm a taxi driver for 8years before kaya dami ko ng experience sa kalsada..
So alam ko KOTONG lang to..
They try to stop me but I speed up(wag nyong tularan ha)

Kung nag ta-traffic kayo they should be before the barrier not after the barrier....Sinabi ko sa kanya na lumang style na yan and kotong lang ginagawa nya syempre nabwisit skin muntik pa nga kaming mag sapakan eh inawat lang nung kasama nya...

They were 2 of them na naka tayo after the barrier...

NEVER!!!!!!

I'm 38 yo and a very experience driver ..Advice ko lang wag kayong papayag na ganun ganun nlang..Kung may KATWIRAN , IPAGLABAN nyo!!!!

Ask ko lang mag sir about sa Number 3(using the yellow lane).

Along EDSA going to Muņoz sa may right side bago mag crossing may mga tindahan ng tiles doon, at may napansin ako na yellow lane for buses.

Ang tanong ko lang paano makakapag park or makakapunta sa store ung mga sasakyan to buy there? or is it okay to cross the yellow lane if intended to going to premises, shop, bank etc.. or pwede mag cross kung broken yong yellow lane?

And one time may nabasa pa ako na may 30sec yellow lane violation, ano po ba ibig sabihin non?

Please help.
