LTO will finally release daw the new plates this April 2014. O baka 2015 pa. My concerns are paano mga nag special plates or OMVSP. Yung 3rd plate daw will be the sticker sa windshield. Wala kasi akong makitang memorandum sa lto site or guidelines man lang.
From TopGearPh Website...
"...the Department of Transportation and Communications announced that the new-design license plates
would be released by the Land Transportation Office beginning in late April this year."
Ex. Existing plate XAT-967 Standardized plate sana maging XAT-1967
Sabi kasi sa isang article na nabasa ko all plates are affected from 1981-present.

Mga sir/mam. Need tour advice on how to deal with this new scheme. I bought a new unit last Jan. 2014.
If lumabas na 5 or 6, pwede ba akong magpapalit sa LTO?

From an article from autoindustriya.com:
"For motorists worrying about not having the same license plate combination for their replacement plates, the memorandum also states that the alphanumeric identification of all vehicles are permanently assigned to the vehicle for its lifetime as provided under Batas Pambansa 43."
So for the old plates ABC-123, it will be replaced with the same alphanumeric identification as the old plate. The only difference (and problem) is the new design.

I agree with him. Hindi nga makapagbigay ng sticker for registration, new plates pa. Plus it will be on the account of the owner, and would have to be prepared pa. So that's time and money wasted, IMO.At least one lawmaker is against the plan of the Land Transportation Office to replace the license plates of around nine million motor vehicles in the country, asking the government to limit the installation of the new plates "to brand new vehicles up for registration."
"It will be a waste of a car owner's money--not to mention his time--if his car plate, which is still in perfect condition, and which still functions as a vehicle identification mark, will be replaced," said Senator Ralph Recto. "In the first place, the new plate will still include the old numbers, so why subject the car owner to all the hassles of queuing in an LTO office just to have his car plate replaced with a new design? Why order the mass cancellation of nine million motor vehicle plates just because a new version will be introduced?"
According to Recto, the Department of Transportation and Communications’ explanation that the new plates "will improve vehicle security" is untrue.
"A car plate can never be an anti-car-theft device," Recto pointed out. "Kahit na nga '8' ang plaka, nananakaw pa. A plate can never be a talisman against theft." If you've been living under a rock all these years, Recto was referring to the much-abused protocol plate number assigned to congressmen.
As for the reported practice of public-utility vehicles switching and duplicating the license plates of other vehicles, Recto admitted that while these "can also be addressed by serious law enforcement," replacing the old plates with new ones that also indicate the vehicles' route "can weed out colorum vehicles and prevent the cloning of car plates."
As a parting shot, Recto lamented that while it takes a Japanese truck manufacturer an average of two days to assemble a three-ton vehicle, it takes an agency of the Philippine government almost a year to provide a car with a license plate weighing a few hundred grams.
The LTO should concentrate on getting plates for new vehicles. When there is NO MORE BACKLOG, meaning when the police can REALLY ENFORCE their "No Plate, No Travel" policy, then should the LTO look at providing new plates to old cars.

agree din ako
laking hassle nyan sa mga magpapa rehistro
I can just imagine the long line, LTO pa kasi ang dapat maglagay ng plate number sa bawat kotse
Bigger and faster roi kasi for lto and provider to replace all plates, instead of waiting for new cars to be registered. Imagine, 1st 2 years into the deal, limpak limpak na magpapapalit ng plates, yaman agad yan. In turn, they can hire more to produce new plates.

New plates for all = lots of revenue thus they need to complete it before new admin
change. Maliit lang racket sa sticker, change of plate make's it bigger.
Bigyan muna nila ako ng sticker for 2014. I registered my car last first when of january, up to now i don't have my sticker.

Our plate will be changed from 3 letters and 3 numbers to 3letters and 4 numbers. With no design like japanese plate!
What do you think about LTO's idea?
