Baka hindi nakaseatbelt
I went to Clark last Sunday to watch the Hot Air Balloon fest. I took the Dau exit and I paid something like P 152-156 for the tool fee. Nagulat ako at ganun kataas na! P 150? But on the positive rsde, smooth ang takbo sa daan. We got there in no time at all (coming from Marilao). 'Nga lang, pawi inatake ako ng kakuriputan so nag-McArthur ako. End result? 'Took us a lot longer to get home. So, siguro it depends on how one looks at it: speed and comfort (plus possible savings on maintenance fees) vs. exhorbitant toll fees.

ok..ok..priceless ang safety..pero we can be safe without much of that..
basta in the end, tayo parin mahihirapan....pag di nila tinama ang toll fee...its still expensive than what they say.
Originally Posted by FrankDrebin
opinion lang po.as mntc claims that the nlex would be safer... sure but safety is most dependent on the part of the driver. speed plays a major factor too.
compared to the old NLEX, it is safer (emergency phone boxes, cameras, more lanes, etc).Originally Posted by ian_rex
medyo mabigat nga ang toll rates. if not for the traffic build-up saka kung fully operational na nung nlex, ok sana. kaso ang dami pa ding kulang. wala pang speed trap or lane management....
merong lane management..i've seen it when i came back here from palayan city...the guy in white uniform in a big white bike hinahawi ang mga trucks(and slow vehicles) from the inner lanes to the 2 outermost lanes.Originally Posted by ian_rex
the only lacking is still the DISIPLINE of the drivers to KEEP RIGHT ESPECIALLY THE TRUCKS!
i dont mine if it increases..I'M HAPPY WITH THE RESULTS!
1.may patrols moving in the long strech to impose the KEEP RIGHT RULE
2.straight virtually bump-free highway.
3.lightened portions na (pero ilang meters lang from bocaue exit to balintawak)
speed is relatively not a safety hazard..the things that makes this road UNSAFE are driver disipline(kasi kung alam niyang masyado na siya mabilis) and maintence of the vehicles passing along NLEX.
speed should be limited to 100kph from balintawak to bocaue(dito ang madami dumadaan kaya dapat strick ang imposing ng speed dito)..and virtually not imposed from bocaue to sta.ines(kakaunti nalang sasakyan sa part na ito).
but still, mahal ang impose nila...justify lang..
so somehow decongested na rin ang manila by a small percentage
At heto pa isa. Yung EC card, non-transferable kasi one per vehicle. So, if you and your family (e.g. one car for dad, one car for mom and Revo for the kids), individual EC card yun. One EC card costs P 950-980 and, according to some of my friends who purchased, dapat daw "kargahan pa ng load". Ano yan? Parang pre-paid card?
950 will only cover the cost of the EC card. you must load it with money so that when you pass by a tollgate, the toll amount will be debited (same principle as SLEX's E-Pass).Originally Posted by nicolodeon
one EC card per vehicle (matched with the plates). though you can have it transferred to another vehicle by going to their business centers.
Nung first day, may mga TRB repz na nag-record ng plate numbers nung mga vehicles (mostly trucks) na dehins nakabayad. I think they asked them to either sign something or make a promisory note na mag-babayad sila. Yang MNTC, 20-years ang build-operate-transfer, in which at the end of the contract, the government can opt to award the contract to a new investor. There was a report on the newspaper (SunStar - Pampanga) that the NLEX rate hike is 1,000 - not 500 - percent over the previous toll rates.
Originally Posted by nicolodeon
AFAIK, 30 years sya.
one can understand the logic of these modernization efforts on infrastructures..klangan hwag tayo pahuhuli sa mga karatig bansa natin..let's say a bot venture lasting 20 to 30 years..syempre utang ito and involved a helluva maze of economic & financial analysis leading to its final implemetation..one justification is the lure of millions $ investment for locators in bataan, bagiuo, clark or subic in the case of NLEX and laguna, cavite, etc for SLEX..in between are local business entities and subcontractors supplying the needs not only of these multinationals but their own localities..what about private car owners who are benefitting from these much improved services..and of course down to ordinary folks which commutes on PUVs day & night, night & day..
in the final analysis, it's a complex issue encompassing nation building, business needs, faster mobility and hopefully, better quality of life for us filipinos and our future generations..
by the way, expect Bulacan & Pampangga to be the next boomtown similar to what the SLEX did to Laguna, Cavite, etc.
with the new NLEX, Clark & Subic will be a more viable transit point than Manila.
