... So here’s a question I’m throwing out in the open. I realized and confirmed yesterday that I left my driver’s license in an establishment. I have been driving for a few days with only a copy of the OR in my wallet. My partner and I had an argument, if I drive and we figure into an accident or get caught for a traffic violation, the car gets impounded and I go to jail. However, I think that there will be no impoundment of car if I am driving with another person with a license.
    1. Can I drive without my driver’s license and just the OR? I will pick up the license over the weekend.
    2. In the event of a traffic violation, can I use as a reasoning that I have a valid OR, just left the valid license, will pick it up over the weekend yada yada?
    3. Does the car get impounded during said instance?

Can anybody shed some light on this matter?

why wait? go now and get your license from where-ever it is that you left it in.

errr... when accosted, can you say, "come back in 60 days daw. heto po OR. ni hindi na nga tinatakan, dahil alam na raw ng lahat na may shortage sila ng license cards."
    heh heh.

May question po ako. Yung wife ko kumuha ng drivers license sa province pero wala pang card, then lumipat kami dito sa metro manila. Pwede ba kunin ang card dito sa metro manila sa mga LTO outlet specially sa malls? Thanks!

Looking at this table below, failure to carry/show actual license entails a penalty of P150.

    TRAFFIC VIOLATIONS AND PENALTIES

I haven't encountered a car being impounded due to license violations; I may be mistaken though.

I tried the temporary printing office at Robinsons Place Las Pinas last month but came on a day when they had a system maintenance scheduled.

I thought of coming back but saw that they were following a schedule for printing depending on a queue number. My impression was that I would have to spend some time if I were to choose to have the card printed there so I just went back to LTO MRT Ayala where I originally renewed my license. It took one hour because of a long line but finally got my card before Christmas, six months after renewal.

I got no validity extensions but they did update my address to my current one.

For me walang kwenta ang short waiting time kung babalik ka pa para kunin ang card. Dalawang araw na abala.

Well, that's just how i feel, alam ko namang wala tayong choice.

Initially renewed my license last March 2017. Got my OR lang with a validity stamp.

Went to LTO Robinson's Galleria at around 1PM last Wednesday, Jan. 10. They provided me a number and had to fill out all my data again since bago na daw system nila. That number has a time assigned to it, 4:20PM but sabi nila they are advanced naman daw by 30-45 mins. So went back to my office and came back at 3:45 and had to line up with the processor to enter my data into the system. My DL was printed and ready 10 minutes later.

A friend went to the same LTO branch a day earlier at around 5:30PM and he said it was faster, he got his license in 30-45 minutes i think.

    ^Labas din ipin ko. hehe

Renewed late last month. 7am nasa district office na ako. 12:45PM ko na nakuha. Ang tagal ha vs. 3 years ago.

5 years from now siguro 1 day na bago makuha plastic card. hay buhay. Ang nagpapabagal yung biometric, 9:30AM bayad na ako sa cashier eh.
