I renewed last October 7. They told me to check after one month if the card is available already. The paper is valid for one year so I assume that I would get the card in a year's time

Accomplishment na rin yan kahit papano. Kalimutan nyo na ung presyo, yung oras at hassle na natipid ang importante talaga.

That means a day off of work to go back to LTO to get the license (and driving through EDSA traffic once more)

Yes. It's valid for exactly one year only.

Hope I can also get the plastic ID within a year. Wala kasi sinabi sa akin kung kailan babalik.

To LTO: instead na paper, magprint sa cardboard or tarpaulin na lang para tumagal ng 5 years

Sino nagsabi? Have they superceded Memorandum Circular No. AVT-2015-1925, which states:

The Validity period of the Temporary Driver's License (TDL) shall be disregarded and the Expiry Date of the Driver's License indicated therein shall be considered as the TDL's lifespan/validity period. No Violation for the Use of Expired TDL shall be charged until the issue on the shortage/non-availability of plastic cards is fully-addressed
So kung 2019 ang expiration ng license, then that is also the lifespan of the paper TDL. Kung superceded na raw, ask for the reference Memorandum that supercedes it. Di pwede i-supercede ang Memorandum based on hearsay lang.

It's handwritten at the back of the paper. It's only valid until 2017. Hay.
