New driver’s license valid for 5 years starting October

STARTING in October, drivers’ licenses issued by the Land Transportation Office (LTO) will be valid for five years.

LTO chief Edgar Galvante said decision to issue licenses with longer validity is in line with President Rodrigo Duterte’s order to cut red tape and give relief to motorists.
At present, licenses for non-professional and professional drivers are only valid for three years.

Meanwhile, Galvante announced that starting August 8, all impounded vehicles will be transferred to a vacant lot owned by the agency in San Isidro, Tarlac province.
This, he said, will clear the LTO compound in East Avenue, Quezon City.

“As you can see, there are too many impounded vehicles here,” Galvante told reporters.

He added that owners of the impounded vehicles will pay for the transfer and storage of their cars. Those that will not be claimed in six months or more will be auctioned. Jing Villamente

I guess yan ang mangyayari. so around 700 pesos for 5 years. yung 3 years nga, nasa 420-something pesos na.

ang tanong, meron na ba silang available na cards? especially yung mga nagparenew before tapos papel lang ang ibinigay?

Bakit kaya binubutasan pa? Sa companies they do that to invalidate their IDs when you leave, but ang DL may expiry naman? Ang FA license di rin binubutasan yung luma, dami ko ng souvenir, until papel na lang yung pinalit

Hmmm when I renewed last month, they did not give back my old plastic id license, just the receipt.
