There are so many ways to limit the PUVs on the road. They can just make diesel more expensive (as is other countries). They can heavily tax steel / parts needed to make rolling coffins. Or they can simply upgrade the safety standards of public commuters vehiclles. but i think this is not the problem, the Philippines daw is pop 120M.cthat's a 50% increase from a decade ago which is only 80M people. What comprise the bulk of this new 40M? Syempre as a 3rd world country, again majority are on the poverty line who can't afford cars but commute. So im sure the MMDA has this data na,and that's why they are desperate for solutions,
enforcing stricter traffic laws is not an immediate solution bec. This will require a lot of time, training and resources. what they need is a quick solution to prevent chaos in the streets and therefore can result to more anarchy. So balewala din ang traffic and compliance training.
and we all know naman na ang padrino ng mga puvs have some political affiliations and the vendors some local traffic aides. So to take this route for the MMDa is like going to war from within. And if they do this, will it ensure smoothe traffic flow in streets. Demandahan lang yan and dito pa satin na ang court cases take decades to resolve.
So I guess as the middle class or the ones who can squeeze more resources to get a 2nd car or 2nd hand car, better start thinking / planning about it. to those who dont, then prepare yourself for commuting 2 days a week. challenge pa nga yan sa motorist if they can get another car, that means achievement and away from the rat race that is the congested trafffic system.
Ito na kasi ang price ng progress ng pilipinas, more and more people are affording cars, more and more people on the poverty line are getting jobs. pagsama-samahin mo yan sa rush hour, and that's the result.
Or we can do a singapore, the price of cars there are double ata compared here. But singapore is just a city state,, tayo malaki ang land area natin, so to heavily tax brand new cars, paano naman mga provinces na maluwag pa

Kung kulang ang budget ng MMDA para pambili ng mga steel fence na 'yan, kunin nila lahat ng mga ASBUwayas.
Patayuin nila sa mga linya ng bus lanes sa buong kahabaan ng EDSA para sila mismo ang gawing harang.
Mahilig rin lang silang mangharang ng mga sasakyan, eh di 'yang mga pesteng bus ang harangin nila!
