TOP officials of the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority, including chairman Bayani Fernando, cheated death when the bus they were riding nearly fell into a deep ravine in Rodriguez, Rizal yesterday.
Aside from Fernando, those who survived the road mishap were MMDA vice chairman Cesar Lacuna, general manager Robert Nacianceno, traffic operations center executive director Angelito Vergel de Dios, assistant general manager for planning Cora Cruz and Rodriguez Mayor Pedro Cuerpo.
The officials were on their way to inspect a relocation site for Metro Manila squatters in Rodriguez town when they met the accident.
Lacuna said they were traversing Barangay Macabod when the MMDA bus suddenly tilted and almost plunged into a ravine. "Wala namang nasaktan sa amin kasi tumagilid lang naman ang bus na sinasakyan namin" Lacuna added.
