Haha.. yun nga din ang akala ko noon when we had our first vehicle. But when I decided to remove it (along with the second car we got), ang hirap nang tanggalin ng sticker. (Btw, nabenta na yung first car when we got the 3rd one)

Kaya nung kumuha kami ng 3rd car and the plates is already available, I removed the conduction sticker right away.

I think it's possible (especially those plates that is assigned as a "virtual plate i.e. plates starts in A) will be replaced and now start in N instead.

I saw a pic of a truck in fb, nakasulat pa sa side yung "virtual plate" which starts in A, but yung official LTO plate number now starts in N.

yung plates starting in I is assigned also for those registered in NCR, AFAIK.

i have heard of two answers. both of them, from reasonably authoritative people.
    one answer says, "no".
the other answer goes, "you can, but you have to request for it early on."
once the number is assigned, mahirap nang palitan.

there is the special plates program, wherein special combinations are given, but at much higher prices. but the program is suspended at present.

Wala na rin ba ung vanity plates program ng LTO? This is different from the 3 letter and 2 number combo.

if memory serves, vanity plates are allowed, as long as they do not cover the LTO-issued plates.
uminit lang ang ulo ng LTO, dahil may mga car owners who covered the number plates with the vanity plates.

    tekateka...
    definitions muna.

i refer to the official LTO-issued plates with special combination letters and numbers, as "special plates".
LTO says it is temporarily suspending the program.
but those already issued out are valid and allowed.

by "vanity plates", i refer to those plates that advertise one's or one's affiliated's "affiliation". commemoration plates to others.
sometimes used to flaunt one's influence, as in, "don't you dare touch me. i'm ... connected!". heh heh.
these are allowed, as long as they do not cover the plate number.

I don't think the plate number assigned to your car, whether regular or special/vanity can be transferred to a different vehicle. That is unique and specific to the vehicle registered.

In other countries, I think the plate remains to the driver/motorist and can be transferred to his new vehicle.

But not in Pinas. Plate number is tied to vehicle's CR.

Nope, may kilala ako, car got delivered 1st week of october. 1-2 weeks lang daw, may plate na.

3 weeks later... wala pa rin.

Yung masaklap is that wala nang ORCR issued that will allow the car to run while the plates are on backlog hehe.

    Dumb gov't.

    This is wrong also.

Vehicle Registration date: Oct. 16, 2018.
    Got the OR/CR: Oct. 23 2018.

Alas, actual plates still on backlog.

So OR/CR is out, but plate release date is still hanging in the air. The only thing that's consistently right is that LTO is always a mess, as expected.

I feel for your friend, sir. 3 weeks and that brand new car is still a garage queen, gathering dust. If I were him, I'd pester my sales agent / dealer everyday. But what can we really do, when LTO is always and forever consistently inconsistent. It's all press release to make "pogi" points to the dumb and dumber.

Can't you just write or print & paste your MV number?
