I remembered nung ang ddriving lessons pa ako aorund 10 years ago. Sa A1 not sure kung 8 hours lang or 10 hours. Parang 2 hours everyday. Manual ang dinadrive ko nun if im not mistaken Lancer Pizza yun.

First 2 days alala ko na if hindi mamatayan ako sa intersection from a stop position e sobrang babad naman ang clutch. Ang BANGO! ahaha!

Pero yung third day parang dinala niya ako sa parang circuit nila. Astig parang makitid lang siya na course para masanay sa tanchahan and lessons on parking. Sabi niya sa akin good to go ka na.

Last day, sabi niya sakin, sige iikot mo kung saan mo gusto. So sige go ako, then pag tingin ko sa kanya, lintek tulog na! ahaha!

Pero what really polished my skills ay yung practice talaga. AND yung mga takas moments sa bahay na itatakas ko yung car (dont do this). Kasi pag mag isa ako, doon ako talaga nakakapagfocus.

Tinuruan n'ya din ako mag-park una pwet at ulo using plastic containers. I'm learning.

For those worrying about driving a brand new car after initial driving lessons - here's my story:

I got lessons informally (from my dad, cousins, friends) and infrequently (only during xmas vacations, holy week etc). For these lessons, I used a M/T Honda Civic na di pa power steering. The rest of the time, I commuted. My only issue when I started driving is that when it's a M/T car, you need to learn to "timpla". Which is very important when you're going up parking ramps or roads on an incline. Or else, you slide down and bump the vehicle following you.

And then, maybe 2 years later, I decided to buy an SUV, a RAV-4 na M/T din.

Big problem - back then, I lived in a condo. I got assigned a parking slot which was in the 5th level so I had to drive up a ramp every freaking day. I also had to pass by EDSA everyday to and from work. Talk about facing your problem!! My happiest day was my coding day, when I couldn't drive my car. Hahaha!

But don't worry, after a while, you'll get used to it.

The most usual route would be Pasig > Makati > Fort in the morning and then back to Pasig after work.

Nangyari to once during my lessons. I was supposed to step on the brake but my foot was on the gas pedal pala. Biglang nagaccelerate yung kotse panandalian. Buti nalang wala akong tinamaan... iskeyri.
Learn to put the stick sa neutral while cruising para po kahit gas matapakan mo, you're safe..

Thanks for the comments. Being a novice driver, I realize there are so many rude drivers on the road. I just talk to myself when somebody cuts me or another refuses to give way, so I don't get frustrated. I still need more practice with parking. Hopefully the ones I end up forcing to wait while I park will be more patient and forgiving. :D

I'm a newbie driver and I still feel anxious driving esp when I'm alone and most especially when parking on busy areas. Nakakadagdag stress pa pag may kasunod ka at bubusinahan ka pa. Badtrip. Anyway I have a totally unrelated question, napapansin ko kasi that some cars leave their windshield wipers na nakataas when parked at uncovered areas esp kapag maulan.. bakit kaya?

    hope this helps.

    ^^^

prolonging the life of the blades.

I had my student permit when I was 16. I'm 17 now (yes, too young!) and I always have my personal instructor with me whenever I drive. That is, when one day I had to drive to college by my own. I was nervous and a little bit shaking, probably because of the airconditioning... (palusot ) luckily it was a Sunday, (ROTC day) and there were no heavy traffic. Kinakabahan talaga ako nung una, tapos it was fun when I finally arrived. It felt like one of those driving games "Objective Complete". . I slow down and have courtesy on the road.

Drove to work for the first time yesterday (Pioneer, Mandaluyong to Ayala). I feel it's not worth it, especially with the terrible traffic! On the otherhand, taking the bus is a cinch. I think this car will have to be parked on weekdays.

It is natural to feel that way....

Over time, everything will settle down and will come out naturally...
