Think of this ingenious system as a huge vendo machine. This computerized system by Volkswagen ensures that the new car reaches its customer in as pristine a condition as possible. Germans, being meticulous perfectionists that they are, would prefer to buy a car that has not yet been touched by others. What this huge robot in the picture (with the crane and robotic arm in the middle of the tower) does is to get finished cars from the assembly line, and slot them into this tower. When a customer buys a new car, the computer then picks the particular model from the tower, then sends it by conveyor belt to the showroom. All this time, the wheels did not turn, so the odometer is at zero. No fingerprints.
