    Hi Tsikoters,

I'm planning to buy a used car but I noticed the plate number is blank in the CR. Is this normal? The car has a plate though.

Also, car was purchased by Mr A brand new, sold to Mr B. Mr B is now selling the car to me but the name indicated in the CR is still Mr A. What documents should I look for?

    Thanks!

It's normal to have a blank entry in the plate number field in the CR, since it takes a period of time before the plate is released, and the CR is already with the owner. Just verify with the LTO if the plate number matches that particular vehicle.

As for the deed of sale. This is also normal, especially if you're buying from buy and sell people. This is to avoid paying for the transfer of ownership twice. Just make sure to ask for the photocopy of the ID (with picture and signature) of the original owner, and see if the signature in the deed of sale matches the one in the ID. The LTO will also ask for the ID of the original owner.
