Not all village guards are picky. I always just leave my college org ID (not even remotely close to official) and I don't get flak for it - but sometimes I don't get a gate pass, and that's fine.
I've read that article before that Vinj posted, and I agree with it. Particularly striking is this - "Because just as a lie told often enough becomes the truth, a law broken enough times becomes legal––which loosely translated is anarchy." I hope that there's something we can actually do about the situation.
As much as possible, I don't wanna cause a hassle by engaging guards on something this petty since they really just follow orders, but this is a valid point that needs to be raised with homeowners' associations. Yes, a village is more secure if drivers only left their DLs instead of mere disposable SSS IDs since people would be more apprehensive of doing something without their license, but that added security is already at the expense of forcibly making someone break the law. Unless the law allows driving without license in a village, then villages shouldn't be collecting them at the front gate.

Im just confused you'd rather leave your passport than your DL? Saka bakit dala-dala mo passport mo?
If you amenable leaving your passport what's all the fuss about leaving your DL?

DL lang wag passport..just i case naman na may mangyari sa loob ang mag iimbestiga namn dyan first yung guard..so lam nila na may DL ka sa main gate. Wag passport mas mahiral kapag yan ang nawala.

as much as possible i leave my regular id's but pag makulit ang guard then iwan ko na license. it's a private property, until our incompetent government does something about it there's nothing we can do about it but abide by their rules.

I used to hate having to leave my DL, Pero nag sawa na ako makipag discusyon sa mga SG. On hindsight, I asked one of them what would happen if they lost my DL. Ang sagot, bibigyan ako ng report at affidavit :-(.

January 3rd, 2015 11:10 AM #18i used to resent it, also. but...
well, it is private property, these villages.. they have the gold, so they make the rules. besides, medyo madalas kami doon.. have to be friendly..
no one is forcing us to go into their private enclave..
isipin mo na lang.. pagpasok mo sa ibang bahay, iwan mo maduming sapatos mo sa labas.
buti nga, hindi spare tire ang hinihingi, e... heh heh.Last edited by dr. d; January 3rd, 2015 at 11:14 AM.

January 3rd, 2015 11:14 AM #20Kapag nahuli ka na wala kang license dahil naiwan mo, hindi yan driving without license, kapag yan ang violation na nilagay sayo, murahin mo ang enforcer.
Because pinoy mentality. Not surprising.
