Can't blame them sir, those inconvenienced are mostly the working class, those people who have to worry how to feed their families in the short term. Those who have no paid leaves. Those who are required by their employers to render OT despite the present conditions. Government should have declared the whole week a holiday to ease the burden of these people, but then it has to balance its moves in the interest of the business community, whom "the potential positive long term effects" will benefit.

Telling militant groups not to rally? It's almost like a dare.

While the government did do a lot of advanced warning, esp sa social media, i think they downplayed the impact on traffic a lot. Pag me umangal e baka masira pa yung plano. How does it go? It's easier to ask forgiveness than to get permission.

On the other hand, you don't need to be a traffic expert, engineer etc to predict what kind of chaos closing off major roads, or limiting usable lanes will cause.

Humirit ata yung private businesses na wag gawing entire week na walang trabaho; i wonder if they were able to operate normally with the traffic chaos though. They can force people to go to work all they want...but do you think the guys who walked home in the wee hours can show up for work today?

Sana laging bukas ilaw nila para di na sila dumami pa.
Agree it was planned but in a terrible manner. Kung baga, nag aral na nga, bagsak pa din. The mind set ng gobierno, "nagbabala na kami, bahala na kayo". Basta nasabi na nila, get out of the metro and go to the province and have a vacation. They came out with No work days for goverment & private, that does not include Monday, and there it was obvious. The goverment only computed their expense of 10B, but never included the effect to everyone.

Why does it have to done in Manila rather than in Subic + Clark ? Metro manila alone has about 12-15 million people to be affected not including the nearby provinces while Clark + Subic , the most you can affect is 2.5million and that does not include at the NAIA & Ports effects. Now the ports are stuck and just like CVT stated, it's going to be another port mess all over again.

The goverment has a lot of option but they chose the worse option.

Check the CCTV monitoring in MRT's website. that should help.

About having it here in Manila, yes it was the worst option, and agree na this government leaves a lot to be desired pagdating sa event na ito. Given the additional security implemented due to the Paris attacks e the best they could have done was to declare the entire APEC week as a non work week na lang. But still we were warned and many chose to ignore it. Ako hindi ko na talaga pinapasok mga anak ko this week para wala ng hassle sa kanila ang worry on my part.

Mendiola closed to traffic due to anti-APEC rally. Talk about making a bad situation worse...

well, kaya naman sa manila ginawa iyan kasi afaik wala ng ibang city sa pilipinas na kaya mag-house at makapag-entertain ng 10,000+ delegates along w/ their respective accompanying staffs and tag alongs of the non-gov't types

i reckon cebu could've been the next best choice pero malamang kapos pa din ang rooms na available para sa mga dadayo dito sa pinas

one thing i'm wishing for is i hope there will be no untoward incident in the wake of the paris siege. ang daming soft targets pwede tirahin pero sana walang magtangkang manggulo ngayong linggo

Agree to those who are saying that the whole week should have been declared a holiday. I have a relative working in makati, & he has to endure walking the whole stretch of coastal road, monday morning. Nung uwian na, no more UV express available. He took a taxi & has to pay P500 to reach Cavite.

Ewan ko ngayon. Baka lalong mas mahirap.

Walang traffic bro! From Divi wala pang 30 min to New Manila. Sulit punta ko. Ang badtrip lang eh 100/hr na ang LCM parking before 10am. Eh 8am andun na ko so 300 binayad ko. Parang nasayang tuloy natipid ko. 😕

Even with Mendiola closed, traffic in the area was light since wala rin namang schools.

You made the right choice sir given you have a choice and yes, that 1 week holiday is 1 great option. But for those who does not have a choice like employees na isang kahid isang tuka they got to work and quiet a number specially will be those contractual. Good thing my daughter school had made their own declaration for yesterday otherwise will also be one of the victims. Meron pang napa-anak sa Roxas Blvd yesterday due to the traffic mess.
