Edsa to be closed 30 mins for each Apec VIP convoy - Motioncars | Motioncars

A long stretch of Edsa—from Mandaluyong to Pasay—will be closed to general traffic for about 30 minutes every time a VIP delegation in the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (Apec) Summit needs to pass through, from Nov. 17 to 20.

“The full closure is needed because our visitors have protocols in their security. They are used to a certain amount of security, leniency and flexibility,” Almendras in a press briefing on Wednesday.
If this happens, it's an Carmageddon all over again. Just imagine how many VIPs are there at 30 minutes each kahit holiday pa. Hay Abnoy, makapagyabang lang sa mga world leaders, kahit magdusa si Juan dela Cruz. Really autistic, living on his own world.

the holding of the APEC summit here does tell us something-- Philippines isn't Somalia or Afghanistan. to say that it's a big event is an understatement. leaders of the world's super powers and of the free world will be coming here plotting the course of humanity in the years to come. our government is preparing for this as early as two years ago.
you know, i'd be very proud if the chief executive and his cabinet would hold their meeting in my bahay kubo.

IIRC narinig ko lang sa radio yesterday, ang route daw kung northbound ka sa roxas blvd. Right turn ka sa gil puyat then left to taft ave. Didn't heard about the southbound though, same din siguro via taft ave.

The last Apec held here was in 1996 during Ramos admin. Kung umiikot yang hosting, from today until 1996 is 19 years and there are 32 member countries. so simple math tell's you meron pang 13 countries na hindi pa naghost. Bakit tayo nakakadalawa na yung iba hindi pa nakapag host, kung hindi yabang lang? The gov't spending 10B when where is the ROI. Ang sabi nilang justification, it will pull investors. Ang pota, who will invest when your electric cost is the highest in Asia, your traffic is a mess, infrastructures , corruption is all goverment agencies are lucking etc.. They have heard it time and again sa mga investors in so many years ago up to now, yet the same problem exist.

Did a quick check... 21 member economies but only 19 are countries (HK and Taiwan are not considered countries, but rather as "economies"). All 18 other countries have hosted since 1996.

BTT: Dry run daw later on EDSA SB 2pm and 10pm. Good luck!

Will the brand new orange traffic barriers be put to good use after APEC summit? Baka pwedeng gamitin to block off the bus lane, lagyan lang ng gap before/after intersections.

And may i ask why they are not a country when they have their own flag and leaders. HK is a Special Administrative Region and has it's own economy separate from China. Yet E in Apec stood for Economy.
