SOME 875 driver’s licenses were cancelled by the Land Transportation Office Licensing Section in 2005 because of age misrepresentation.

This was announced yesterday by assistant secretary and LTO chief Anneli Lontoc based on the official report of Eleonor Madrid, chief of LTO-LS.

According to Republic Act 4136, a person must be at least 17 years old to secure a non-professional driver’s license and at least 18 years old for a professional license.

However, there are those who declared a different birth date when they initially applied for license. LTO’s license section discovers such act once the person comes back to correct his birth date.

“When they renew their license and apply for a revision of birth date, we compare this birth date against the one they declared in their initial application of license” said Madrid, “From here we discover discrepancies and later find out that there are those were underage when they applied for the first time,” Madrid said.

According to Lontoc, all violators based on the existing rules and regulations of Transportation Law were penalized by LTO by suspending their driver’s license for a year.

kung alam mo under age ka nag apply noon ,

Maybe not all pero sigurado meron.

My license is legit ever since.

also they must be strict in their requirements plus stiffer penalties must be meted to those who misrepresented their age. one way of generating income din yun wag lang nilang ibu-bulsa.

Ako mali ang age sa license hehe...

I got my license when I was 16 ata, yung inapplyan namin permit lang, pero yung naglakad sa A1 Driving school sabi pwedeng gawin license na, dagdagan nalang age...

Ngayon wala akong paki kahit 36 isip nila sakin, ayus lang hehe

marami din meron more than 1 license, some have same names and data, some use different names, especially kapag nahuli, they just apply for a new one or some declare it as lost and then they get a new one.

Here's what I did before (matigas kse ulo ko eh!):

I was in 3rd year High School, I went to Recto to get a fake birth certificate and me and my classmate forged the info ourselves, including the stamps, etc. on the paper. It was a clever job and I was so damn proud of it (back then)! hehehe ! Then I went to LTO Tayuman to get my Non-Pro DL, with my age as 18 instead of 15. Too bad my dad didn't let me use the car.

After about 6 years when it was time to renew, I inquired at LTO Mandaluyong on how to correct my age on the license. The lady told me that my license would be suspended for a year and I can re-apply after that. So I did. I even asked na "baka pwedeng pagusapan na lang 'to" but she just replied no (suprising for a someone working at the LTO, especially back then! ).

So yun! To make the long story short, surrender your license then re-apply after a year. Wala kseng amnesty ngayon eh. Parang nagkaroon dati for that pero hindi ako sure.

Parehas din pala kami ni Glenn, wildthing at always yummy, I started driving at age 12 (kasama si erpat at sa subdivision lang) at buti na lang sa akin legal din license ko as in tama lahat, walang illegal, including the age. Dami kilala ni erpat nuon sa LTO (kahit ngayon, pero kahit fixer minsan, kaya na rin nilang diskartehan, thats how sad the state of our transpo bureau is...) and he was even in government office pero dahil by the book si erpat, we went through the right way.

Medyo OT na pero he shared a story to me once regqarding bringing up your own kid. The story is about a father and his son going to the movies and upon reaching the ticketing booth, the teller asked how old was the kid. The father replied, he is 6. The teller replied, you could have just said he was 7 and i would'nt have known it and you could have gotten him half priced tickets. The father looked at his son, and said "you wouldn't have known but my kid would have known and known that I've lied.....".
