So will the US spec Yaris be our Vios? Since the vios already had a minor facelift which usually indicates a model change within the next 2 years... will we get a new one for 2007 as 08 model? or 2008 pa? Some specs look similar though like the 1.5 motor and size

There is a possibility that the slightly larger 2007 Yaris sedan may replace the Vios, since they already lauched the ASEAN Yaris hatchback this year, I guess it would be logical that the sedan version may follow.
If you look at it, the new Yaris sedan(Belta) looks more like a Vios replacement than an Echo sedan(Platz) replacement.

Thats because the new Yaris sedan(Belta) is longer than both the old Echo sedan(Platz) and the Vios.

The Vios by the way is based on a slightly stretched Echo sedan(Platz) platform.

Interesting how the US went from 1st gen to 3rd gen Echo/Yaris directly. They never got our Vios and that old Echo sedan was so.... bubbly.

Shares some components, like the engine, but 2 different cars. Even the Yaris sedan is different from the Yaris hatchback, as the Yaris sedan was developed in Toyota's European Design Studio while the sedan was designed by their Japan Design Studio.

Both styles are available also in Australia. We bought our H/B on lauch last Nov05 and we're very much happy with our purchase.

The Vios(2003 to present) is only for the ASEAN/Taiwan/Chinese market, its based on the 1st gen Yaris/Echo (1999-2005)

The all-new Yaris is just in its second generation.

They share more than just "some components", they use the same basic platform and architecture and are nearly identical under the skin. Most of the major changes were done to the rear half.
The Yaris sedan has a lengthened wheelbase (+90mm).

    Yaris sedan(Belta) Wheelbase 2550 mm
    Yaris hatchback(Vitz) Wheelbase 2460 mm
