I will not try to say who is better, since some aspects of this are very subjective. I will simply say that Toyota has a complete lineup of vehicles, and that they have strengths in some areas, and weakness in other areas. Honda has a much smaller fleet, that covers some segments very well, and doesn't even touch others. They have some strengths (particularily in fuel economy), and weaknesses (no product) in other areas.
So, a comparison really needs to be more focused, say based upon a specific class of vehicles. It also comes down to asking yourself, what am I looking for in a new car. I will have to consider what I want in a vehicle ( type of vehicle, size, fuel economy, performance, V8 engine, PRICE......!

Then I will compare the specific vehicles in each lineup that seem to meet those criteria, and decide what works for ME! Buying a vehicle is a very personal thing, so don't let a magazine or popular opinion make YOUR decision for you. Only YOU know what you like. Only YOU know what your priorities are. Only YOU know how much you can afford for that new steed.

    Peace

naku, flame-fest waiting to happen :D

masasabi ko lang, toyota makes tough cars, and parts are cheap and ubiquitous.

As hagiber said, you've already answered your own question, as most of us are wont to answer in the same manner you just did.

...don't let a magazine or popular opinion make YOUR decision for you.
Same goes here; don't let an online car forum make your decision for you.

Only YOU know what you like. Only YOU know what your priorities are. Only YOU know how much you can afford for that new steed.
Which is why asking everyone else's opinions here will ultimately be moot. Every car make has its advantages as well as risks. But the bottom line is, no matter how many posts we make defending either brand, it's still your money and your personal satisfaction that will have the final say in the matter.

    IMHO

Both are reliable, both are value for money.
Honda if you want sporty handling.
    Toyota if you want comfort.
Kumbaga walang itulak kabigin, depends on what your driving preference is.

If you're basing it on statistics, then Toyota.

other than that, it's a toss up of brand perception.

Tama ka dyan dre, kapag sinabi mong mas-maganda at magaling ang TOYOTA delikadong may masabi ang may HONDA ,haba nga ang argumento at sigurado kung wlang papayag na mag-patalo,kaya in fairness for both having TOYOTA and HONDA eh,depende yan sa kanilang category at specification and both are they have own trade mark, pareho lang sa aking-para walang usapan,he,he,he...

    Hi
esp, said most of it. But he seems to suggest that the original poster was applying this to purchasing a car. This may not be the case. Both are about the same, one is up in some areas, the other is better in yet different areas. The car is complex enough that lots of compromises are done, both makers are optimising in different areas in different ways. I am sure most would agree.

However, if you want to compare HYBRID car development. No question one is way ahead of the other. So much so that Porsche is doing joint development on the "rumoured" Cayenne Hybrid!. (German's bowing to Japanese, for a change!. How the world has changed!)

itong thread na ito ay maihahalintulad sa diskusyon ng relihiyon at politika....walang katapusang opinyon.

nagkakahiyaan pa tayo eh...let's start the controversy

first let me say that i love both brands and in my extended family we own/have owned four toyotas and seven hondas. eto imo ang pros and cons:

    toyota
    pros
    - strong, highly moddable engines
    - smaller engines still produce good torque
    - very comfortable ride

    cons
    - styling has become more and more bland
    - too many models imo. creates market confusion.
    - value for money seems to have dropped off recently (US market)

    honda
    pros
    - great styling
    - very innovative
    - a little more reliable and lower cost to own than toyota in my experience
    - high quality interior materials

    cons
    - cannot build an engine with good torque
    - everybody has one ;)

Who is the better automaker, Toyota or Honda? Why?
