actually almost all articles that are read in the newspaper about this car or that, is usually biased naman eh. they dont point out the negative things, of course. when they do print something that will put their product in the dark, they will immediately call up the editor and demand a retraction.
Actually, I have yet to read anything negative about the Fortuner from published medias. Most of the stuf I have read so far range from the Topgear and C! august 2005 issues, to fluffy press-release-kit-like "reviews" from major daily newspapers and some even managed to reach a verdict without even actually test driving the vehicle.
Anyhow, its been almost six months since the Fortuner's release and quite a number of tsikoteers are have taken delivery of their units already, so let me take this oppurtunity to ask all owners to verify the findings of mbt, mazdamazda, and et al during their initial test drive last May of Fortuner test units.

*otep...nice ride and plates!!!!! Uy, di rin ako gumagamit ng galing sa med rep, hehehe.
Sorry, OT.
I agree to the observations of mazda2. You will not experience a zippy and highly spirited drive on the Fortuner. Actually, i felt like a "grandpa" driving my Fortuner, hehehe. My wife even blurted out "para naman itong pang-lolo, walang ka-challenge-challenge!" We got used to our '03 RAV4 (which we developed a certain kind of fondness). The steering is what i've noticed most, talagang mabagal ang response. The front wheels wont point to where u want to in real-time, very noticeable yung delay. But then maybe i just got so much used to our RAV's handling.
I just had my third fuel mileage test, 2.5D4D.
From Bacoor, Cavite to Balanga, Bataan, to Clarkfield-Fontana, to Bacoor; mostly highway driving; with 45 minutes idling (family was inside when it was "car-washed" in San Fernando); plus a very slow-moving traffic from Ortigas to Guadalupe because of road construction.
Total distance: 384.2 kms
Top up : 34.26 liters
Fuel consumption: 11.214 km/liter.
FYI.
Wow, grabe! Walang wala ang 3.0V ko sa consumption ng 2.5G mo. I have yet to breach 9km/li... It would seem that the 2.5G is now the best buy among the Fortuner variants.Originally Posted by attynorby

Sir, what's your average speed dun. My 2.7 averages 7.1 km/L, pero that is city driving, I usually monitor my engine speed, making sure I don't go beyond 2000 rpm, except pag gabi when I go home, trying to outrun would-be carjackers, just in case I feel I'm being followed. heheheheOriginally Posted by attynorby

kudos to sir attynorby for squeezing out that much from his 2.5 D4D engine.![]()
NLEX, siguro, mga 100kph; I tend to go up to 120kph nang hindi ko namamalayan. Sa provincial roads, my speed varies from 40 to 80. Paiba-iba rin kasi, pag nasa Angeles ka na, mabagal din, just like when I was in Balanga. Imagine it as a vacation trip where when you reach your destination, you go along with the community traffic. I just go with the flow of the traffic, not being conscious with the "ideal speed" to conserve fuel consumption.Originally Posted by retinasurgeon
I just go with the traffic flow, considering road safety. I am usually out on the road so I really do not bother or am being conscious with the "ideal speed" just to conserve fuel consumption. I just set my TRIP B to "0" when I top up, always in the evening on the way home, then top up my fuel two or three days after, also in the evening on the way home. The only variables that I control (and practically controllable) are the time of fueling and the gas station (same fuel pump, if possible). Also, FYI.Originally Posted by zechs
My 2.7 does not breach the 6.6 km/L for city driving. But based on my manual computation, I am actually getting lower around 5.9 to 6.2.Originally Posted by retinasurgeon
Hindi ako fuel conscious when driving. Actually, when I drive this baby, it seems the horses really wants to go out of the hood. I enjoy driving this car compared to my other older cars. But when I was checking my gasoline bills for the last month, tumaas na ako by P5000 the past 2 months. I guess this is because I take out this car for unnecessary spins to the provinces. Pero sulit pa rin.
Hindi pa rin ako practical at this point because I am really enjoying my ride. The effects of all this additional expenses will hit me soon and they I need to change my driving habits when I drive this car.
hi. pumila na rin ako sa 2.7 vvti. tanong ko lang kung how many percent city driving yung km/liter mo. thanks..Originally Posted by andre
For me, almost 100%, di ko pa siya nailalabas kahit itong long weekend, pero medyo binabantayan ko talaga yung engine speed ko, so that could be the reason why ok ang consumption ko dito. I usually maintain my speed at a certain stage, pero there are times I rev it up, just to see how fast to goes, but I haven't had the opportunity to go beyond 100 kmh (usually weekends, and EDSA). But, compared to our old Revo, masmatipid nga and Fortuner.Originally Posted by beebs
