    tikoyman is correct! once it's yours you can do whatever you want. yun daw contract na sinasabi re for private use only is applicable only. for warranty. but if you insist ok lang. void nga lang warranty mo. in other words puwede mo gawin taxi ang auto mo regardless of brand and model as long na ok sayo.

    prestige-wise, medyo downer nga kung ung oto mo e me taxi version...pero ung tip na nakuha ko sa taxi driver dati: kung gusto mo malaman kung anong oto ung matibay at mura ang maintenance, observe what cars the taxi companies are using.

    i'm getting a feeling that toyota's slowly moving away from the taxi "market", what with their prices. imho, tingin ko nga that worked to their benefit e...lots of corolla taxis mean the auto shops will stock up more toyota parts, hence parts are readily available and cheap; cheap and available parts equals low maintenance -- one of the strong points of toyota

    pero i think toyota would rather have the vios used in taxi fleets instead of their altis.

    pagkakaalam ko taxi drives have the option of owning/not owning the taxi after a couple of years...mas mataas ang boundary if you opt to get the taxi.

    kung hindi naman nila balak kunin ang taxi e ba't pa nila aalagaan? kaya malalaspag talaga

    back when times were not in favor for my family financially i had numerous nightmarish experience with taxis and some arrogant drivers;

    anyboady can get caught in the middle of the metropolis or a mall with your family notably nighttime and here comes these empty taxis taunting your patience to the limits!!

    ayaw magpasakay ang mga bastos na drivers!! kesyo matrapik, malubak ang daan, malayo, etc.. all along your family suffers from the long wait to get back home..

    kaya i'd made up my mind someday i'll really go for a car of my own and to hell with taxis!!

    to me taxis are one of the worst things that ever happen to my life living within metro manila...

    i even planned to acquire a vios for my youngest girl but i cannot help out associating the car as a taxi with a some nut-headed driver giving hellish, unpatriotic treatment to countless hapless taxi patrons!! wake up MMDA & CO. daming asar na pinoy sa inyo but with how pinoy mentalities are, they'd rather keep their mouth shut and murmurs to nobody their plights..

    standup guys and fight for your rights!! well, cant blame them really.. most of us cant still get rid of that "low class mentality" which is the worst legacy the past colonialists left in the minds of the filipino people..

    iyon lang mga bossing masasabi ko sa issue ng "taxis": the street-plying monster of metro manila!! :devil:

    sa frankfurt, halos cheding mga taxi sa airport pero duda ako sa pagmumujkha ng mga drivers; me indians, east europeans, north africans; autobahns are cheaper & safer;
    sa milan, mostly big-bodied cars plus italians mga drivers: makatao ugali..

    sa baguio mababait ang mga taxi drivers... few weeks ago nandun kmi and the taxi drivers are very honest.. yung sukli mo sinasauli talaga nila kahit piso na lang and in many occassions lahat sila sinasauli ang sukli. Magaganda ugali ng mga taxi drivers doon... hinde bwakaw!!! no wonder marami pa ring tourist na nagpupunta doon..

    More power pinoy! =)

    sup guys? I've been a member for quite some time already, but its my first time to post.

    Anyway, I hope this answers your question re: the vios being used as taxis.

    Yes there have been news about this. I work for Toyota Makati Inc, and we recieved a memo about this already. The agents kc should be resposible enough NOT to sell the vios if they think it'll be converted to a taxi. Sometimes talaga you'll never know especially if the client bought it for personal use at first then suddenly runs out of funds, converts it. That's going to be a hard case. The vios' you've probably seen na taxi are ROGEBETH and CALIBER 45. MOst of these were purchased daw from provincial dealers. Hopefully with the Memo from toyota motors philippines, warning the agents, thiis will be stopped.

    Another is, there is a law out, that only COLOR WHITE units may be used as taxi. That is why the Vios does not have WHITE on its line-up. Pero alam mo naman dito sa pinas, kontying sweet talk lang and you get what you want.

    One more thing, i spoke to an owner of one big taxi company here, she said its crazy that they use the vios as taxi coz its engine is already fuel injected and is run by a computer box. While its in its newer stage, it should be no problem, but once it gets older, the computer box may be the reason for higher maintenance of your taxi. Unlike the carbs of the XL, buy a new repair kits, change the jets and your ready to go again.

    I hope this helps. MY two cents. CHEERS
