Not so sure. I would have to interview the taxi operators. I know that the engines tend to run hot on LPG, but that's also partly due to operator error and tinkering. I've also noted that the NZ tends to feel sluggish in traffic, and could do with a beefier cooling system. This is likely why non-LPG Vios taxi operators also open their hoods, not just to prevent overheats (that aren't happening) but also because of heat-soak.

(note: won't overheat with the hood closed... not unless you've been remiss on maintenance)

    Ang pagbalik ng comeback...

I followed the 5000 km oil change even after the warranty of my car expired, in return I got myself a car that is reliable and headache free.

    Vodka,

If mineral oil every 3months or 3,000 kms ang advise.

Ano yan truck?

wow i didn't know that! thanks for the info! so it's actually 1 year, that makes me feel better when i miss my 6month PMS haha

As per my research, a combination of piston rings designed for low sulfur fuel, a lack of piston-cooling and the nature of the Z engines to run hot in traffic causes the sludging. Synthetic helps slow down the breakdown and sludge formation, but it's not a cure. Some US owners report oil consumption of over a liter between intervals.

That's the price you pay for fuel economy.

The new ZR has improved rings and presumably better piston cooling, but Toyota is still sticking to the 5k interval.

For all local manufacturers, you get the 5k interval unless you use synthetic oil. If you want to go 10k, it makes a whole lot of sense to go synthetic, anyway... unless you want to collect engine-sized paperweights.

well toyota still insisted on 5,000 even during the 4afe days...

    http://www.toyota-tech.eu/Maintenanc...uris/Final.pdf

that document says 15,000 kms interval for NORMAL

    7,500 for SEVERE

    for 1ZR engine

i've also tried to read up a little on these engines. i've read reports of them burning too much oil. and the sludging issue. seems like they're not very good engines, no? :D

Sa ibang bansa, like dito sa Canada, kahit ibang brand okay lang ikaw na lang mag change-oil, as long as you keep the receipt of the things you used (i.e. oil, filter, etc.) para may record ka when you did the oil change.

Compared dito freezing talaga and may road salt ka pang kalaban tapos nagto-tow pa ng fifth wheel, in addition to the traffic and init kapag summer/spring.

So in the end, yes business model yan ng TOYOTA PH lang, hindi Toyota worldwide.

    Chill out guys!

well as usual, consumers have little rights and protection here in PH

and given that there are so many "willing victims" as evident on this thread this situation isn't gonna change anytime soon

nowadays my favorite rant is the one against hyundai, or HARI in particular. i bought a 2011 grand starex (my 3rd hyundai) and i was told the warranty and pm schedule is as per normal, 3 years warranty and 5000km/6 months whichever comes first. ok, all good. then after 3 months i was told that because of their 5 year extended warranty i should now have my vehicle serviced every 5000 km/3 months! I protested, i told them i bought my vehicle before that policy came out so i will only avail of the 3 years warranty and follow the 5000km/6months rule. they said NO, 3 months or i lose my warranty. I followed 5000km interval, and each time (5000km, 10,000 km and 15000 km) their service manager would remind me (more like a threat) that i will lose the warranty if i do not bring it in every 3 months. i said "fnck you hari!" and took my business elsewhere. i save at least 50% having my gs serviced at another brand name casa where i bring my own oil and spare parts.

now i have a kia sorento, and it's 5000km/6 months mineral oil or 10,000km/6 months fully synthetic. i can bring my own oil and spare parts from outside vendors and pay only for the labor, no questions asked. i am very satisfied.

i am buying a pick up. i would have loved to have the ford ranger wildtrak, but ford sales sucks big time, asking for DI and forcing their in-house financing with double the interest rate of banks. so i said "fnck you ford!" and took my business to mazda where there is no DI and the in-house financing rate is the same as bank direct financing rates. and i get 3 years/60,000km FREE preventive maintenance including oils and spares. and i say it again, "fnck you ford!"

it all boils down to choices. if you continue to patronize blindly a brand then they will abuse your blind loyalty. so yes, i can sympathise with what the TS is trying to say.

    FnCK YOU H.A.R.I.!
    FnCK YOU FORD!

    i salute you!

    this is the proper attitude

yes they will abuse their leadership position unless people start complaining. but i guess that's not gonna happen since people just love getting fncked by these big car companies
