    I just had a chat with my friend from Toyota.

    Kaya daw pala medyo overpriced ang new Rav4 is because it only has limited stocks for 2006. Kung baga what you're paying for is the 'exclusivity' factor. Only 60 units ng new Rav4 ang alloted for each branch this year! The good news is I think the price will go down by 2007. Kaso nga lang by 2007, I predict Toyota will already have a lot of Fortuner units to dispose.

    Just to add...

    a sales agent from Toyota Makati told me about this and claimed that they are all sold out for this year 2006 already. So any potential 2006 Rav4 should rush to any dealer with remaining allotments (which is highly unlikely)!

    I wont be surprised if a thread might suddenly sprout in the goons squad forum entitled " 2006 RAV4: Supply woes"

    I think its not mainly the exclusivity. The specifications justifies it especially the cruise control, side curtain airbags, independet aircon controls (R/L), leather seats (which costs around 40K already if sourced locally). Plus according to my source, the price already incorporates the +2% EVAT effective Feb.1. Take all of these factors off and I think you'll get a price of around 1.6M. just my opinion..

    Isuzoom: Where did you get the info na lalabas yung Nissan Pathfinder dito? Is it from a good source?

    I checked the sticker price of the base model Pathfinder, its a little over $37K. That's around 2M Php right there, wala pang taxes.

    I'm afraid this is not true... If ever, magkaron ang dealer mo ng Pathfinder, they may just be importing it through the gray market and not getting it through Nissan Motors Philippines or Universal Motors.

    Thanks for sharing the fact that RAV4's will be on display today and tomorrow at the Fort.

    ================================================== =======
    Official prices

    2006 RAV4

    4 x 4 AT (White Pearl) - Php 1,800,000

    4 x 4 AT - Php 1, 785,000

    4 x 2 AT (White Peal) - Php 1,440,000

    4 x 2 AT - Php 1,425,000

    ================================================== =======

    The Good:

    The new Rav4 seems a little bit bigger than the Gen2 CR-V. The interior is really impressive, highly sculpted. Better utilization of the cargo compartment, with better cargo floor storage implementation than the Gen2 CR-V. Finally, a tonneau cover for the cargo compartment to keep things from flying all over. The dashboard is remarkably a notch higher in terms of design. The back row seats can now be folded flat on the floor, which enables for more storage capacity.

    The Bad:

    It is finally confirmed, 60 units only per dealer for this year (2006).

    The Ugly:

    The exterior hasnt received much change from the previous generation. It seems that they just blunted out the edges, which was quite apparent in the previous generation and passed it off as the new design because in terms of the exterior shell, it looks strikingly similar to the previous generation except for the apparent flab the vehicle needed to gain to help it outsize the Gen2 CRV in the looks department.

    My bad.... Hehe I guess my agent didn't know what he was talking about...

    I just got back from the Fort. Okay sana kung 1.4M yung 4x4. Pero 1.7M is too much.

    this 60 unit per dealer thing by Toyota may be a ploy to increase the demand of the Rav4 by putting some exclusivity into it. Plus the fact that an increase in demand coupled by a lack of available second hand units in the market would equate to a very good resale value. ala Fortuner
