Its a bit on the high side but I'd still reserve judgement till makita ko final specs. Medyo may dating ang new RAV4 but ok ren yung upcoming Outlander (hope Mitsu sells it soon).

Anyone know the options / features included sa variants ng new RAV 4?

At those prices, I'd rather have the new Grand Vitara with LOTS of change to spare.

Imported CBU from Japan din naman ang GV.

i dont like the generic looking audio system. 6-disc in-dash audio system with integrated steering wheel mounted audio controls. I like the dash lay out:

    quick thoughts,

THE GOOD: features, features, features. soft and fragrant leather. multitalented seats (10-way power driver's seat, sliding, folding, reclining rear seats), super-sized increase in space compared to the old RAV4, interior reeks of high quality, interior design is ultra-modern without feeling contrived, large cargo bay with a low floor. standard 2.4-liter 4-cyl with 170 hp and 165 lb-ft. of torque is a healthy step up from the old 2.0-liter.

THE BAD: in my opinion, the styling, while still quite pretty, is a step backward. where the 2nd-gen RAV4 was sharp and edgy, gen three has devolved into a softer, far more generic shape. the rear is its weakest aspect. it's lost gen 2's tight, spunky proportions and now resembles an oversized station wagon more. second row comfort would have been improved if the cushion was placed higher for better thigh support. the gen 2 cr-v has it right. No manual tranny. No V6 option for power junkies. Not a single bit of underbody protection even for the AWD variant.

THE UGLY: insane price, particularly for the AWD variant. although the base FWD version is a much more reasonable package, as it has most everything the AWD has except for the side and curtain airbags. for 1.8 million bucks, i would personally buy a slightly used 2004 Nissan Patrol with two shifters. Or two 1999/2000 blister-fender Mitsubishi Pajeros. Or a BMW 1 Series. Or a blister Pajero and a Mazda Miata plus change. Or a real-4x4 Fortuner and an old Benz. Or a Honda Accord V6. Or even a Camry V6. 1.3 million bucks for the fully loaded FWD RAV4 is a far more palatable deal, but without AWD, i'd stick with a Mazda 6 2.3 or an Accord.

THE VERDICT: A space-age toy for rich kids (since who else but kids would be interested in a RAV4).

gen2 RAV4's price dropped because of the reduction in excise tax in the second half of 2003.

It will be Toyota's loss anyways. Sabagay, madami din namang papatol purely on the basis of brand name.

    mbt,
Php 990k lang yung pre-owned Patrol na inaalok ni vinj!

    That is terribly overpriced!
Just to give you folks an idea...
Here in Japan, the RAV 4 2WD model is priced at 1.974M yen and the 4WD Sport model is 2.478M yen. Using 100 yen:50 pesos as an exchange rate, those RAV 4s in the PH should be around 1M pesos for the 2WD and 1.250M pesos for the 4WD!

True true, cars in Japan are very cheap even for European cars but if you consider fuel costs, parking, servicing, etc., I guess it wouldn't be that cheap anymore.

Actually, I think car prices here sa Pinas are quite reasonable compared with most countries in Southeast/Far East Asia especially when you factor in the fact that our market is very small.

7-seater ba yung new RAV4? Any other toys for the more expensive variant like HIDs, sunroof, +/- gear shifters, power seats for both driver & passenger, auto climate control, rear aircon vents, etc?

Have to agree with mbt, from the launch pics, my initial impression is medyo bland ang styling but interior seems ok.

I'd rather get a Grand Vitara, Sorento or even a CRV. Interior does not look worth the price tag, and the exterior for me is bland, nothing striking about it.
