I think the Pajero will be a better vehicle to use for towing if the choice was between a Paj and Rav. The diesel engine will have more useable torque in the low RPMs.

A Trooper or Patrol (m/t) will be a better choice IMO.

How does an automatic transmission affect towing capabilities?

Is there any disadvantage? or advantage?

    ironarch,
I find it easier to tow using an A/T. Kasi sa manual I tend to mess up the 'timpla' especially when starting from rest. Sa A/T transmission, A/T na ang bahala. And may A/T transmission cooler pa so less stressed ang tranny.

Manual gives you more engine braking on downhill runs.

imo, still on top of the local "cute-ute" pile overall. while it's not as big as the CR-V, its excellent blend of interior and exterior styling, performance, parts and service options, resale value, and full-time four-wheel drive make it the most desirable mainstream mini-SUV available currently...

unless, of course, you plan to go off-road and wish to get back home... or plan to assault two feet-high floods... in which case, a used 1999 Nissan Safari would be the no-brainer choice

    Welcome Cardo.

The RAV4 is an excellent buy! if you dont mind me suggesting, get a year old rav4 and save a lot! :D Dami nang thread regarding this. youll have a jolly time reading those.

I hope Toyota Phils releases the updated version of the RAV4, with the mean mean hood scoop! cant wait to get my hands on one (the hood).

Kung hindi lang ako naimpluwensyahan ng mga off-road freaks dito, the RAV would be my top cute ute choice.

RedHorse:: Stock pa rin except for bulbs :D :D :D Im gonna take pics of it tomorrow.

cardo:: ano kinuha mo? AT/MT? What color? The AT in my opinion is a better deal coz kaunti lang price diff (around 40k lang ata). Healthy ang makina ng RAV4. :D

Cardo:: sulit yan pare!!! ang maganda pa, all 2003 models are "J Series" na.... metal grille and with the spoiler. Meron na bang hood scoop?

Maganda napili mong kulay.... hindi common. You wont make a mistake in selecting a color for the RAV. lahat bagay. Although ngayon parang type ko ngayon is "Subtle Gold". :D

The RAV4 is perfect for everyone except for those who are looking for HUGE cargo space.
