On the old Innova, the external antenna is placed on the rear-left corner of the roof. The cable goes down between the lifter and weather seal of lift gate and to the left tail light. Removing the tail light, there are a bunch of holes through the body shell. The antenna cable is then passed through said hole and goes out the tool compartment inside. From there, it's hidden under the cargo tray, floor mats, ending up behind the dashboard, just besides the driver's right knee. There's a metal frame underneath where the internal antenna (with magnet mount) is attached to.

I only have so much antenna cable length to work with so I can't have it rerouted too far from the old route.

Not my pics, but I've chosen these just so you can visualize it.

1st Gen Innova.... People wonder why outside air is coming into the cabin, this is one of the reasons why. The tail light assy has a rubber seal on it that affords some insulation from outside air. But remember, it's a Swiss Cheese and that's no exaggeration.... there are a bunch of other such holes around the body that lets in unfiltered outside air. The only benefit here is that it makes for an easier cable routing.

Learning on the mistakes from the old Innova, the 2nd Gen Innova has pretty decent cabin sealing.

if i were me, i'd have two choices.

i'd punch thru the rubber grommet the rear light wires pass thru, and pass my cable thru it.
then i'd liberally apply some filler material, to make it waterproof.

    or!
i can drill another hole thru the sheet metal where i can pass my antenna cable thru, then seal it against water using grommet and stuff.

I might remove the small plug in the top middle portion, get the wire through, then plug it up with some sort of automotive sealant. I'm thinking neutral cure silicone sealant or the black butyl stuff they used to seal windshields. In a pinch, maybe a dab of Vulcaseal might work.

    i'm a vulcaseal fan.
i used to consume kilograms of it, in an attempt to water-seal my rusty car of yesterdecades'.

    btw,
latex gloves melt in vulcaseal, while the newer nitrile gloves do not.
i also have lots of wooden spatulas, c/o the profession.

Silipin ko yan one of these days. If the spoiler is plastic, I can mount the antenna inside then route the cable through the rubber tube.

How did the installer pull the cable into the ceiling from the rubber tube? Tinanggal ba yung headliner?
pinadaan lang sa mga gilid. meron syang plastic tool to pry the rubber and plastc covers. hindi halata na may wire na dumaan pagkatapos ang installation.
hindi ito yung akin pero parang ganito...

According sa brochure, meron Auto UP/DOWN yan. Baka kailangan relearn. Nabubura yan after ma disconnect or palitan yung battery.

I think it would be safer to verify with an actual unit since the brochure has some inaccuracies (e.g Innova has VSC/Facelift Fort V has Non-Adaptive Cruise Control)

Can't speak for the earlier year models, but I believe all Innova 2023-2024 trims (V, G, E, XE, and J) have VSC as standard.

I apologize what i meant was the mention of Traction control on top of the stability control in the fortuner brochure but not in the innova brochure even though having VSC basically means having Traction Control as well. Someone who is cross shopping the two may lead to the wrong conclusion of the Fort G having more safety tech.

    Agree on the inaccuracies.

Researching into it a little further, I just found out I can disable just the TRC (short press) or both TRC and VSC (3-second press). They sort of sound like one and the same, but apparently they're not.

    In a nutshell:
VSC - Helps prevent skidding during hard cornering by applying brakes typically on the inside tires in relation to your turn
TRC - Helps prevent tires from losing traction associated with hard acceleration and/or driving on slippery surfaces by either applying brakes on the tire that is losing grip or by reducing the engine output

The manual defined it as such:

Ha! You learn a new trick everyday.

My bag were stolen, together with my wife's key and my ID with my address. Currently we park the innova in the inner most of our driveway and block it with my car. Just to be safe.

Magkano kaya palit lahat ng locks and ignition ng innova? Pasok kaya ito sa Insurance? Dapat sa CASA ito gagawin di ba for peace of mind?

inquire from insurance provider. i believe this falls under "vandalism" and should be covered.
if it is, then best to let the casa do the replacements.

but if you want to save money (because insurance won't cover it?),
a good automotive locksmith can change the pin combination of your locks.
that way, you will just have to replace your keys and not purchase the entire system of locks and keys.
of course they have to be able to remove the lock barrels from the car, first. ask for one who has experience with innovas. i believe the incident is more common than we think.

how did the robber get in? did he destroy a lock barrel? i hope not.

    good luck.

We were eating at a donut shop when someone stole my bag. Nasa bag ko yung susi at ID ko na may address.

We tried following the airtag attached to the car keys together with the police. Nasayang oras namin, the airtag is giving location every few minutes sometimes 15 minutes or more interval. Pagdating namin sa location ng airtag mag update yung map at malayo na ulit location. After couple of hours of following the airtag the police lost interest. The next day paikot ikot yung airtag sa QC, around scout/Quezon Ave area. Until it stopped somewhere in QC, pinuntahan namin this morning, it seems itinapon yung airtag sa ilog (Tobias - Hemady bridge). Although hindi ko alam kung airtag lang or kasama yung car keys. I'm thinking nung paikot ikot sya sa area ng QC ng madaling araw eh itinatapon na nya unusable na laman ng bag. Pero will still change the car locks just to be safe.

Investing in a steering wheel lock might be a temporary, stopgap measure until you get the locks replaced at the dealer.

I know, there are Youtube videos showing how to bypass such devices, but crooks here aren't that capable as their more sophisticated counterparts abroad.

Thank you the suggestion. We are actually joking of acquiring a wheel clamp from enforcers as a small small deterrent. 😂
