Welcome to the club pugee!!!
keep posting bout our favorite Innova van...
WBR,
my D4D G matic logged 5600KMS.. so far one click ang cold start niya.. power is still adequate.. 160km/h kaya niya. been using petron diesel most of my fill ups.. sometimes Shell or caltex pag di available.. haven't tried bio or bio blend yet.. I get 7 to 8Km/l city traffic.. 13KM/L hi way.. so far so good..
change the headunit to a pioneer. installed a cheap subwoofer, had leatherette seatcovers and full floor matt . my next target would be custom fender and side flares plus eventually 16 or 17 inch wheels.. anu kaya ang maganda na design.. hmmm..
How many members of Innova club has Diesel engine? I think not more than 20 and yet there's 3 of us have this problem wd our diesel engine. I remember one dont start at all and has to replace the whole CRDi parts.Toyota Balintawak Service advisor says im #15 with this kind of problem Hard/Failed starting Fuel pump ang problem daw and not the fuel we use. May 1 Fortuner owner wd this problem din. This only proves that Innova with D4D engine is really a lemon car. Kaya pala ang dami ng resale. I should have wait atleast a year to see if Innova diesel is relly good. What if my warranty expires i have to replace my fuel pump every 5000km. Im sorry guys but i have to say this para mabawasan ang victim ng Innova D4d. If you want to buy Innova buy gas variant nalang or better not to buy Innova at all.![]()
*larshell,
are you sure fuel pump is the culprit with your ride??? nothing else as per your service advisor... just let me know of any developments.. Thanks..
WBR,
Maybe if other also has same problems please post it here so we can compare notes with other the same problem.. and at the same time try to iron out the source of this problems...
WBR,
I experienced the choking problem. I have answered Lord over at the biodiesel Rulez thread, also at the D4D problem thread. With mine, it was a loose fuel filter, although I really thought it had something to do with biodiesel use.
I talked with my service advisor. We both agree that if it is the fuel pump na nasira, whether the engine is cold or hot, it doesn't matter, palyado or that choking problem will occur. He concurs that with a loose fuel filter, during cold start, the excess air will not allow your engine to have proper fuel air mix, forcing you to rev the engine to compensate and circulate the fuel faster. Once the fuel has circulated, the excess air would be partly or fully offsetted, thus allowing for a more normal sounding idling level. That's why in my case, tightening the fuel filter to prevent excess air into the system was the solution. During their check up, they didn't notice the choking problem although the unit was there for 3 nights, so they didn't suspect any problem with the fuel pump.

*larshell : did I understand it right - the problem is with the main fuel pump and not the injector pump - is this correct? Isn't it that the fuel pump is integrated inside the fuel tank and sends fuel from the fuel tank to the engine; whereas the injector pump is located next to the throttle body and pressurizes the commonrail to 1,350 bars of pressure for feeding into the solenoid injectors . . . . . isn't this correct? (not unless unitized yung fuel delivery and pressurization system into one unit).
So, if this is the case, the problem isn't that serious since the fuel pump is not part of the D4D CRDI system. What is more worrysome is if the problem is with a CRDI component like the injector pump . . . . tama ba ang analysis ko? Tuloy napagisip ako agad sa D4D innova ko na baka lemon rin ito considering #15 ka na sa casa mo with this problem.
If this is a common problem (add up all the toyota casas with the same fuel pump complaints) e diba dapat mag-issue na ng recall order ang toyota for the defective fuel pump para hindi na tayo maperwisyo.
Supply fuel pump ang problem according to the service advisor.Originally Posted by Innova_Boy

e baka yun yung fuel priming pump connected to the fuel filter or the main pump talaga? Because if it is the fuel priming pump (yung the one you press to bleed the excess air), that's what happened with my kia sedona. Nagasgas sa kakapindot, thus allowing air into the fuel line, causing fuel knock.
*altec, When you tighten your fuel filter does it solve your problem wd hard/fail starting?
i will try to re tighten my fuel filter.
Sad to hear of you guys experiencing trouble with your D4Ds, although I own a gas variant, I too feel sorry about the situation. I think Toyota should recall defective units immediately otherwise baka lumala pa ang mga defects nito.
Mga Innova peeps..
My INNOVA G Diesel Variant was brought by my brother a while ago at Marikina
Service Station. My 15k PMS was also done at the said service station. Prior
to
the 15K PMS, we already have complaints that after several full tanks of
diesel
fuel from PETRON and mixing it with ESTROL Biodiesel (5% and 1%), the engine
begins to experience the following:
1. The engine often dies after starting it. This is true during cold startup
(mornings and after several hours of being parked). This is sometimes called
by
users - pumapalya o na-chochoke. Kelanagn mo apakan yung gas pedal or rev up.
the engine.
2. Sometimes during shifting gears, especially on slow speed (2nd gear) parang
kakadyot ung makina o malulunod (has the tendency to stop) pag hindi mo agad
inapakan ung gas pedal.
3. Sometimes, I feel that the engine is loosing power. Although my top speed
is
not affected, the behavior of the engine sa arangkadahan or during normal
speed
is not the same. sometimes I do need to drive hard. But I observed that my
fuel
consumption is still the same. 9.5-10.5 KM/L pa rin. I am now using Shell
Diesel.
All of these symptoms were relayed by my brother sa toyota mechanic sa
Marikina.
Toyota diagnosed again our unit by using their laptop to get into the unit's
engine statistics. My brother also relayed the possibility of the fuel filter
being clogged and maybe it just need to be adjusted. However, toyota did not
attempt to take a look. They are satisfied with the results being shown by the
engine at their laptop. The other bad news is, they still have to report the
said event either at planta or at Cubao. They instructed my brother that they
will contact us again for the next visit. This time at cubao. I am planning to
bring my unit at P. Tamo or Makati this Saturday for a second opinion. These
stations I believe are independent and have their own pool of expert mechanics
and management that can decide immediately and do not depend on other
stations.
Since I am not the only one who have experienced such behavior, (others are
just using pure diesel without additives or biodiesel) maybe we could organize
a body or at least help each other to get the attention of Toyota. I believe
that the D4d engine is not that bad since it has been released before in other
countries. There might just be an adjustment with our engines. Lets push
Toyota
to work on this issue. Toyota must have a fixed for this issue, better yet
fixed this issue so that our engine can use and benefit from biodiesel.
