I also encountered this problem in my Innova's fuel tank last year. I often wondered what the thumping sound I hear under the vehicle. I later found out it was coming from the gas tank after I observed the vehicle with the engine off in my garage. It was probably the tank expanding/collapsing due to the vacuum inside.

Eventually, the tank started to leak. Malas ko pa I was in Anilao at that time. I found a talyer and the mechanic placed a rubber strip under the leak to minimize the flow. Then I brought it to Toyota C5 where they replaced the gas tank with a brand new one.

After 8 months, I noticed my tank leaking again... at the same spot! I went back to Toyota C5 to complain and informed them that they should have replaced the charcoal filter and filler cap when they replaced the tank. I said it was likely the cause why the tank leaked again. Or maybe, they really did not my old tank and just repaired it that's why it leaked at the same spot again! The car is still in Toyota and I'm waiting for their assessment.

We had the same experience, though my 2nd tank replacement was free plus free charcoal canister and gas lid cap, since this was under warranty that time. I had a lengthy discussion with Toyota plus some demand letters that this is a factory defect. Gladly, since 2008 up to now the warping gas tank problem no longer seen in my unit.

That time Toyota dismantled my gas lid cap and the breather holes are gunk with black soot, as immediate remedy then while waiting for the replacement parts, they just removed the filter mesh for the breather holes and immediately no more pooping sound underneath after few minutes of engine off.

Sir Cast, Original Fuel Filter binili ko sa banawe. Di rin ako naghanap ng replacement. Anyway once lang naman every 80k odo ayon sa manual.

May nakaexperience na ba sa inyo na say for example nasa 1/2 pa yung gauge then naka idle ka lang for mga 5 minutes, bababa ng dahan dahan yung needle nya say for example hangang near 1/4, then kapag tumakbo ka na, balik normal sya sa 1/2.

yes, naka experience na po ako ng ganyan.... ang cause po nyan ay hindi pantay ang daan kung saan ka naka park.

Not really na nakapark na di umaandar engine, say for example heavy traffic and pantay ang daan, talagan bumababa sya ng dahan dahan, then kapag umandar ka na ulit, babalik na sya rin kung san sya dati.

I am thinking baka fuel pump, float or baka kailangan lang linisin yung tangke, di pa ata naibaba ang tangke nito, 2008 VVTi E.

Never pa nangyari sa akin yan sir... at di pa nalinis o naibaba ang tangke.

Parang based sa mga na search ko madam, baka raw alternator or battery yung cause ng pagbaba.

why not buy Auto VOLTMETER para at least ma monitor mo kung nagloloko ba alternator mo or battery...

My aunt called me, leaking nanaman gas tank nila due to warping AGAIN!

Actually almost same time nung nagkaleak gas tank namin.

Dinala niya sa casa, palit lang gas tank. SA didn't advised na palitan charcoal canister and filler cap.

I had mine repaired sa welding shops along the road. Bought new charcoal canister. Hopefully hindi na ulit maulit.

I insisted na palitan niya charcoal canister ayaw maniwala mas naniwala sa SA ng toyota. Ayun eto naulit nanaman.

Libre ba pinalitan ng casa yung gas tank nya? Hindi charcoal canister ang issue, the canister almost lasts same sa buhay ng engine, it is the filler cap that has the issue.

I hope and pray na hindi ko na ma experience ito sa 2014 diesel models kungdi sasakit ulo ko sa pakikipagyera sa dealer ko nito.

Sigh... kung meron lang abs at airbags ang crosswind sana hindi na nasakit ulo ko sa pag consider ng innova at pag research sa kanya

Dont worry, vvti lang ang me problema sa gas tank.

Iba ang problema ng diesel d4d. Injection failure and loss of power.

Planning to get the 2014 E 2.0 gas variant hopefully within this month. Shall I really worry on the gas tank issue? By experience, ano earliest number of years from purchase usually lumalabas na yung defect?

wala na yung gas tank issue ng innova vvti sir.. solved na yun.. mine is 2013 Innova G VVTi AT.. so far so good..

complain ko lang before ay yung delay ng throttle response pero solved na rin yun.. nagpakabit ako ng sprint booster throttle controller.. so far very satisfied sa performance..
