InteralCombust,
I do not think homhomnova is personally attacking you. He is just stating the obvious that because of your bad experiences with your cousin's Innova, you are biased towards it. He is also thinking that maybe, just maybe, you are having bad experiences on your own car that you made a poor decision with the car you chose instead of buying one.
I see it rather odd that of the hundreds, if not thousands, of Innova owners in this thread, you are the only one stating this very bad experience. I am very happy with my 2012 Innova J. Nice power, nice fuel consumption, good handling. And it looks good to boot.
Are you even aware of the driving habits of your cousin(assuming your cousin is a he)? Is he driving his Innova beyond its capability? Using it on rough roads very often? Loading it to its capacity almost everyday? Of his maintenance habits(regular oil changes, preventive maintenance check-ups with the CASA or a reputable auto shop?)Or he just ran his Innova to the ground and expected it to perform like brand new?
Is it just me or what you took for a drive is not a Toyota Innova but a Mitsubishi Adventure? Just sayin.
We have several relatives and friends who have Innova's and Fortuner's. So far I haven't heard anything bad from them in terms of owner experience. I'd say the Innova is an ideal "people's car". Engine power is more than adequate enough for the daily grind. Top end power isn't that much, but there's lots of torque down low.
I'd most definitely go for an E. ABS and rear wiper are more than enough reason to upgrade, let alone the power amenities.

it's common knowledge, used vehicles in "brand new condition" are seldom in "brand new condition".
but back to E versus J...
if there's a financial problem, then J it is. otherwise, aim for E.
^Toyota installed the rear parking sensor on my Altis for as a freebie back in 2012.
Oh wow!!! I asked for that and my SA said that is too expensive for freebie

It really depends on the deal that was given to you. If the margin has been maxed out, then a back sensor is really not possible. These sensors that are available in CASAs are pretty expensive compared outside. These are usually provided by the dealer's third part acc. provider, The dealer (sometimes even Sales Reps, desperate moves just to maintain their quota) pay for it as well. We don't get it for free just like that.![]()
After several weeks of thinking, end up getting D4D J. It will be delivered on Monday. Dapat kanina, kaya lang walang pumasok sa TBK kahapon because of TS Mario kaya hinde natapos ung finishing.
Excited na much. This will be my 2nd car, 1st bnew.
