    Toyota Hilux

New 2026 Toyota HiLux: First details, release date for next-generation ute – report | Drive

But contrary to expectation, it says the 2026 HiLux will be based on an evolution of the current ute's underpinnings, dubbed IMV – not Toyota's new global TNGA-F ladder-frame architecture used under the Tundra, Prado, LandCruiser 300 Series, and other models.

Ang hirap na paniwalaang 'all-new' yan kung parang recycled yung gilid ng outgoing model.

Just as simple as that, the 2026 Hilux expected to be an evolution rather than a revolution, remaining with the IMV platform, rather than jumping on the TNGA-F. It might look familiar but small updates around the C-pillars are making it stand out.

For sure, class-leading parin yan when it comes to tagtag. Mararamdaman yan lalo ng mga old drivers na at least late 40s/early 50s na ang age esp. on long drives.

well, pick ups are supposed to be beasts of burden. tagtag and all that.
tayo lang naman ang bumibili nang pick up for whatever other reasons, kahit groceries lang ang kinakarga.
    heh heh.

are pick ups still enjoying tax discounts? perhaps that is a reason why they remain popular buys...

2026 Toyota HiLux: Engines, platform, price, release date and everything we know so far | Drive

spy photos published by HeadlightMag show the 'new' HiLux is just a heavy facelift of the current model on sale since 2015.
the 'mid-section' of the vehicle – the doors and cabin – carries over, meaning there will be no more width on offer for passengers, a weakness of the current HiLux.

What in the HiLux hell is Toyota thinking? | Opinion | CarsGuide

Perhaps — hopefully — Toyota will surprise us and launch something newer than we think (maybe even putting the long-trademarked 'GR HiLux' nameplate to work).

Or perhaps Toyota realises it's the end of days of the diesel dual-cabs, and so it is squeezing what it can from this platform before an inevitable move to a PHEV or electric powertrain.

Personally I rather they stop using "GR" in anything not explicitly made by the GR division.
It's diluting the brand. Parang TRD lang back in the 90s-2000s.

IMO it could work if they just relegated Handling/Visual-Only(i.e Rush GR-S) upgraded vehicles to the old S/SR/Sportivo variants.

I won't mind a GR(MN) badge in the Wigo if they shoved the raize's turbo engine in it as it seems to be inline with the brand's earlier efforts.

A tamaraw gr-s would be funny af if it enters random villages that require utility trucks or vans to pay for gate pass fees. It won't be exempted from those.

That will make it a "GR Series"

    They presently have

GR Series - GR86, GR Corolla, GR Supra and GR Yaris
GRMN - very limited units built

Then there's the GR Sport or GR-S Series where a model gets body kits and slight modifications to improve the current model's TOTL.

My biggest question with Toyota's GR Sport/GR-S Series is if body kits will be available 10-15 years later...

My Honda City is a "Sport" Variant (Can't remember what they called it in 2018) and when a motorcycle hit and damaged my rear skirt, Honda Makati told me they don't have available parts to replace the "accessories"

Probably the Same for the GR-S series with the possible exception of the Wide-Track GR-S Hilux and the 300 Series (which seems to have specific model codes for the GR-S variants)

If they do build a GR variant they probably would also build a wagon variant that they showed a concept off recently -Edit: it seems to be greenlit already but probably won't get my hopes up that it will see our shores as it is a local conversion.

2026 HiLux: What Toyota has to say about the next-generation, but not-all-new ute | Drive

The 2026 Toyota HiLux may not cost much more than its predecessor – while matching or exceeding its off-road capabilities – the brand has hinted.
"I think the new HiLux will need to meet criteria of capability – particularly off-road – reliability, and affordability. And whatever we do with HiLux, that will be our first goal," he said.

"And you're right, there will be a new generation – coming in the next generation.

    personally,
unless i'm in the hardware store business or plant business, or i am into motocross,
    i wouldn't buy a pick-up.
    "too much useless space-occupying volume."
    OT.

takes a lot more effort to lift heavy stuff onto a tall hilux compared to a dropside like a suzuki carry

same with motorcycles. taking them up a ramp, one person, can be tricky (watch those moto loading fails on youtube LOL). so much easier using a moto carrier at the back of an SUV. some of the fancy ones can even lift a dirt bike from ground level

    yeah i wouldn't buy a pickup truck
