October 10th, 2015 01:28 PM #2New owner of 2015 Toyota Hi-Ace Commuter and new tsikot member here as well.
1. Where can i upgrade my tires and mags? Ive read that if you upgrade or change the stocks, mas maganda ang ride and less matagtag, tama ba? What are the specs of the mags and tires? Sorry. Wala po tayong masyadong alam sa kotse. Anong specific na dapat kong hanapin?
2. If i change the tires and mags, would it void the warranty?
3. What shop can i go to for the accessories? From the horn, chrome light, spoiler with 3rd brake light, car central lock, keyless entry, car stereo with audio/video,rain visor, and mudguard? Is there a one stop shop for a toyota hi ace commuter? I reside in timog area, pero walang problema kung malayo. Impt ang quality, competitive price, and efficient in installing.
Thanks in advance.

October 10th, 2015 06:35 PM #3I want to upgrade my tires and mags on the premise that the steering is smoother, better fuel consumption, and less tagtag. Tama po ba?

We have this on the Grandia.
More stable on the highway than the 195R15 that came standard. Better city driving and off the line pull due to the smaller diameter of the tyres. Highway driving FC will suffer though, especially if you do a lot of long high speed driving. I'd still go for the 225 tyres similar to the Super Grandia.

Sagot ko nalang na I don't and will never fancy and buy China made vehicles. Kahit bigyan ako ng ganon, I am going to sell it and buy a Hiace. I have seen 3 on the road and they look cheap, they look like a wannabe Hiace. It looks like a Hiace LXV design gone bad lalo looking from the rear. Kung lakas ng makina din lang, Hyundai GS VGT kukunin ko and hindi padin ung Foton.
*sludge: That's the problem if you have anything done outside the dealership, any problem either related or not related to the issue, they will find a way to connect the dots hence, they will deny your warranty claim.
You can report it to DTI to raise your complain if they don't honor your claim but it might take a lot of time and effort. If I were in your shoes, I would ask how much is the cost of having it repaired. If it is not that expensive, around 15k or less, I will just have them fix it and get it over with. I have more important things to do than going back and forth to DTI just have that problem fixed considering it's not that expensive anyway. The time and effort are not worth it. But if it's expensive and the cost reaches 30k or more, I might go the DTI route.
*Commuter.Ace:
1) - I have seen Commuters with bigger rims and tires. Some have those seem to have smaller rims but have fatter tires. Not really sure what their sizes were though. I even saw a Commuter owner buying rims and tires from those vulcanizing shops that sell those.
2) - Dealerships prefer all stock so if you are afraid that it will void your warranty, change it to your stock rims and tires before bringing it to the dealership.
3) - If warranty is your worry, dealership is your only option. If you don't care, Banawe it is. Or you can bring it to Winterpine. There are 2 Winterpine shops, 1 is along Araneta Ave and the other is along Aurora Blvd. Doon ako sa Aurora nagpunta when I had my alarm fixed when it malfunctioned. I believe that is where Toyota Otis brings their units for electronic installation. Pati mga dealerships from other car makes, doon din ata.

Thank you po for your sentiments, bukas malalaman kung ano ang final decision nila, spiral cable cost around 13k daw yata if i remember it right. True po na time and effort might not suffice to that price but sometimes, you just have the urge to do what you think is right so I am really considering going to DTI should I find their decision unfair. But then again, you have a good point. Sorry for the rants.
