I was excited to try out the new Vios drivetrain, but ended up a bit disappointed since it drives worse than the old 1.3 with the 4AT. Lack of low-end torque means the CVT drones at high revs at the slightest prod of the throttle.

My friend who's had both Vioses says FC hasn't improved significantly. He doesn't use fuel tracking apps though so I take his anecdotal report wih a grain of salt.

i had similar experience with the lancer 2003 cvt.
it shifted at much higher rpm, compared to the 2003 altis AT.
the lancer cvt was running at much higher rpm than the altis AT, at the same speed.
i had horrendous FC with that cvt. something like 6 km/li, compared to the altis's 9 or 10...

Still struggling to eke out at least 8km/L sa Altis 2.0V 10.5 Gen ko in city driving. Sa ngayon, maximum I've got is 7.5km/L sa actual measurement, pero sa digital readout nakapag-average na ako ng 8.1km/L in one full tank.

Only time you'll get 8 km/L is if you drive in light traffic. 7.5 is already good for the 2.0, that's what I get with my Civic in moderate to heavy city driving. With our 2.0 4AT Altis before, 7 km/L was already a good number.

Yup, sounds just right. My Altis 1.6 V was faring between 7.1 and 7.9 in Cainta-Makati-Cainta traffic (first click - full tank method).

I think the yaris is much lighter than the vios hence the good fc.

I thought you were doing 9ish km/L with your Altis?

Curb weight is 1060 kg for the Vios and 1040 kg for the Yaris. 😊

Just a comment on my last FC post:

Honestly... I'm so surprised! Using different calculators, I divided my total distance traveled and the number of liters I refueled a freakin' five times!!!

Have I found the secret to maximizing my Altis' fuel efficiency capabilities? Or was it because I recently had my Altis' 65,000-km PMS? Does my fuel tank have a problem? Or is the fuel pump calibrated differently?

(By the way, I use fully synthetic oil for years now. I also refuel at the same pump station -- same Shell branch, always that pump beside the cashier.)

I'm amazed... really amazed... I remember the 2005 9th gen M/T I used to drive to school was registering a minimum of 10.1 km/l (although traffic in Marcos Hiway back then was horrible).

Anyway... I'm happy and very amazed!

    Oh, before I forget:

I also noticed my FC figures based on MID are increasingly getting accurate or consistent with my figures from full tank method.

    My last 4 FC posts:

From MID ----- Manual Calculation (First Click-Full Tank Method)

    1. 9.6 km/l ----- 1. 8.98 km/l
    2. 9.5 km/l ----- 2. 9.07 km/l
    3. 9.5 km/l ----- 3. 9.36 km/l
    4. 9.4 km/l ----- 4. 9.45 km/l*

*The last manual calculation is actually 9.445 km/l. It was only rounded off to two decimal places. So, basically, my 4th FC post marks the first time the MID and the manual calculation registered the same km/l figure.

    Vios 1.3 E CVT (2017)

My first full tank computation method:

    > Km: 337.8
    > Liters: 29.398
    > Km/L: 11.49
    > Usual Route: Imus (via Aguinaldo Highway or Cavitex) > Mandaluyong (via EDSA) > Alabang (via At-Grade) > Imus (via Daang Hari). Had a day trip once from Imus to Bulacan.

barely reached 2000rpm. my cruising (max) speed is 80kph (90 if overtaking) at 1500rpm.

by the way, i'm using Petron Extra Advance.

Nice figures I suppose this is the dual VVT-i model already.

I got the same figures with my 4AT Vios before. That's mixed driving which is why the FC is in double digits.

Interesting... his route seems to be mixed "city" and "highway" as well. Could it be that the new engine produces a slight improvement only?

yup, mixed po ung route ko with the usual morning traffic sa Aguinaldo High Way, Cavitex and EDSA and evening traffic sa Alabang and Daang Hari... and yes, dual vvti na po sya... and nakatulong na rin siguro ung not being a heavy footed and cruising speed of 80 * 1500rpm and no extra wait sa trunk...

first computation ko pa lng pero hoping na 'yan na talaga or sana mag increase pa...
