hi guys!
just wanted to know the fuel consumption of a fortuner.. 4x2, diesel, A/T....
city driving and highway...
thanks in advance!
TOYOTA FORTUNER (2.5G A/T, 2007)
City: 8.4 - 8.7 km/L
Highway: 12.2 - 13.0 km/L
Fuel: Shell Diesoline Ultra
TOYOTA ALTIS (1.6E M/T, 2005)
City: 10.5 - 11.2 km/L
Highway: n/a (but apparently, it must be doing better than 11.2 km/L on highways)
Fuel: Shell V-Power
*Note: Fuel consumption (city driving) of both vehicles are as tested on the roads of Ayala and Quezon City and adjacent areas.
Guys, do you have any ideas on the 08 Vios 1.3e's FC? I'm planning to get one next month. Sabi kasi ng mga friends ko vios daw talaga matipid. When I went to Toyota Pasong Tamo. They claimed that the 1.3e's FC is around 12-15km/ liter and 15-17km/ liter. Is this true? I don't think that those informations are that reliable since they are dealers. Hopefully meron mga naka 08 vios 1.3e dito!

Normal driving (medyo kaskasero)
City: 11.7 km/l
Highway: 14.5 kl/l (makati- tagaytay)
Tipid driving ( below 60 kph and shifts at or below 2000 rpm but higher than 1500 rpm + very light on accelerator)
City: 14.7 km/l (1st attempt)
15.2 km/l (2nd attempt)

one more thing sir, you're in the wrong place to post your concern...
para not OT: vx200 2003 a/t - fuel consumption?.....really sucks!...sucks your pocket until the last cents!![]()
2004 corolla xl odo reading - 80,000+ all stock
Tires - 16/205/50 28psi front, 30psi rear
W/ 1 passenger + subwoofers 2 12" * the trunk
Route - manila to manaoag church pangasinan and vice versa 410 kms 70% highway, 30% city plus 45 mins of idle on 3 stop overs
Speed - going to manaoag 100 - 120 * nlex a/c on, 110 - 140 * sctex a/c off,* service road 40 - 60 a/c on... back to manila w/ a/c on all the way * service roads 40 -60, * sctex 90 - 110, * nlex 80 - 100
Result - 410 km, 28.23 liters = 14.52 km/l
I'm satisfied with my FC.. While on sctex going to manaoag I floor it to its max speed of 170 * 4800 rpm for almost 5 min..
I think I could get much higher FC if I drove slower..but My friends was so fast that leaves me no choice but to catch them LOL....
share ko lang po..
I had my most economical driving (Oct31-Nov13) since I got my innova vvti manual last April 2011 = 14.92kms/liter (180kms highway & 513.4kms city driving)....
sana ganito lagi kahit purely city driving...yung 180kms ko is from Bacoor to Tagaytay and to Bacoor again while the 513.4kms is our daily city driving (from home to office, home to market, home to malls, etc..)
Vios 1.3E MT
Odo = 400 kms
Manila - Balintawak - Manila (heavy traffic)
Balintawak - Zambales - back to Bataan (with 30 mins stop at Olongapo, engine & aircon on)
Full tank at Bataan, Shell unleaded
with 2 adult passenger + driver
220 kms
13.68 L
Eff = 16 km/liter
Reminders for FC computation:
From point A which is at gas station (1st Full Tank with ODO Trip Meter A set to 0)
Drive the vehicle as normal as possible (the same as your usual driving style).
Then go back to the same gas station for another full tank (2nd Full Tank).
Record the km reading on the ODO Trip Meter A.
Once full tank, record the liters of fuel added.
Divide the km reading with this number of liters (KM/Liter).
You may do this over and over again to get the +/-% accuracy.
Your loads should remain the same as much as possible when repeating this experiment.
in addition to the above, use the same pump and stop filling when the pump stops automatically. to further minimize variables. the MID just gives you an idea but manually computing the FC is more accuate. use of the aircon, tire pressure, load, traffic and driving habits as well as age and condition of the vehicle affect the FC, so these have to be taken into consideration when comparing vehicles with similar specs.

Medyo strange case naman yung sa akin.
2003 Toyota Altis 1.6E
I had been using the Toyota 5W-40 fully synthetic ever since I got this car (2nd owner). From the start I've consistently had my FC at the 9.7-9.9 km/l for mixed city driving. Pag medyo mixed highway naman, napapaabot ko ng 12-14km/l. My only complaint before with this car is mayroon parang delay from pedal input to actual response, but I've learned to live with that since.
Lately, I had the oil changed to Red Purple 10W-40 fully synthetic, and my FC dropped to 7.8-8.4km/l. Only thing is right from running the car from the shop, I could really feel the renewed responsiveness of the car. I'm not sure if you could call it added power, but it has brought it some life and zest. Yun nga lang, with gas prices rising and rising, even that small of a difference in FC add up considerably in the end. So I may either try the 5W-30 of RP in my next oil change or go back to the Toyota stock oil.
