Hi is this considered luxury car in Ph because of its almost 2m price tag for a 5 seaters? Because you can get mercedes A class for only 2.4m pesos due to taxes here but if you buy in usa its around 1.6m total in pesos. Top of line Camry in usa is only around 1m in pesos thats why they call it an appliance

    Toyotas luxury line up

    Van - Alphard
    SUV - Landcruiser
    Sportscar - supra/86
    Sedan - Camry?

Anyways, life in ph is much harder and buying a 2m pesos 5 seater car seems really stupid because there are 2m vans like super grandia and suvs available that can seat more people

If you find people stupud buying this at 2m cause you can get a people hauler or suv at the same price, then this segment is not for you.

Camry is marketed as an executive car. Like, people that has 2 or 3 cars already in the garage.

You cannot call people stupid if they can buy midsize cars worth 2M. These people can afford a bit of luxury than having to sit in a van or an SUV (PPV) which rides like a pickup truck. The same thing applies for people who buy Euro cars locally that's worth more 2x or 3x than the price of a Camry but still seats only 5.

Is executive car same as luxury car? Because I think filipinos who are doing very well in life are the only ones who can afford this expensive car. A little more and you can get a car with mercedes badge!

Its fuel consumption is terrible as well at 5km/liter

My apologies for keeping this thread running. But I can't seem to start a new thread in the car comparison sub forum. Anyways, I would like to ask if buying the 2019 Camry is much better than the incoming 2019 Honda Accord - better for a driver driven car where comfort (amenities and ride suspension) is important for the back seat passenger. In choosing a Camry, which amongst the 2.5G (17" tires) and the 2.5V (18" tires) has a better ride? Some backgrounder, passenger is a lady who's currently using a CRV 2.0S which she still finds matagtag. Any other passenger cars that needs to be considered?

fyi the new camrys got the old engine.

suspension wise I think the camry is abit softer than the accord. but just a tad.

the accord will have better fc and nvh imo. and a more luxurious and roooomy 2nd row.

That's like asking, why even consider a Coralla when a Vios or Wigo do the same thing and bring you from Point A to Point B.

You are not the target market so no point in arguing against poeple who want to buy it, right? I am also not the target market for the Camry, but I can get why people would pick that over any peso equivalent vehicle.

And why bother with FC if you have money to buy a 5 seater at 2million? Heck, why bother asking about FC, if you have money to burn for 2+2 seater vehicles over 3m php as well, right? As long as it is within your means, they aren't stupid for wanting to buy what they want.

EDIT : To add to a reply in your post, you are worrying about FC but say you can Buy a Merc for a little more... Have you forgotten about maintenance as part of cost of ownership?

EDIT 2: People are answering you what the vehicle is, yet you keep asking whether it is a luxury vehicle or not, again... You won't get your answer if you refuse to see the answer in front of you.

The term executive car is used among us Pinoys and other developing Asian nations for midsize cars in the developed nations. The market for such cars is more on the higher end of the income bracket - folks who own a number of cars, a big garage, and cares not much about fuel expense.

There are a few brands tagged as luxury - BMW, Mercedes, Audi, Jaguar, Lexus, Infiniti, etc. Toyota's brand in the luxury car arena is Lexus. A luxury car with a comfortable interior space as a Camry will hit you a bill of around 5M to 6M already. The rest of the midsize Asian cars (Accord, Mazda6, Legacy, Sonata, Optima, Altima) are not yet in the luxury category.

Despite their price, they are not yet tagged as luxury. Lexus has the LM for the Alphard and LX for the Land Cruiser. For sedans, Lexus offers a wider array of options - IS, ES, GS, and LS.
